2 speed lefthand reel

This is probably the nicest reel that you've never heard of! 😂 I picked it up in Australia about 5 years ago. They're a very popular reel down there (and Europe too I think). Fit and finish is outstanding. Serious drag and line capacity. Very solid, smooth feel to it. Everything about it is just very very nice. For size perspective, I'd say it is relative to a Fathom 40NLD2 except with more line capacity and waaay more drag. The reel is filled with approx 500 yds of 80lb J-Braid. Would be great for Halibut/Sturgeon!

Detailed specs are here....... https://www.tackledirect.com/blue-marli ... reels.html

$200 and I'll cover shipping to your door with tracking and insurance.

So folks are being naturally cautious about sight unseem online transactions from a non-local seller that is not a well known member on the forum, which is totally reasonable. Unfortunately for us all, there are plenty of scammers out there and they do show up on this site from time to time. So folks are just trying to avoid problems. We all wish we could leave our crab traps in the water and expect them to still be there when we come back, and didn't need to answer 4 security questions and a text message just to log in to our online banking - but thats the world we live in.

Take this for what it is worth folks, but I messaged the seller about these reels and took similar pause at first, for the same reasons. However he was very responsive to messages and was able to answer all my questions. I looked at his profile and despite the fact it says new member, he has actually been here for a few years and has made posts in the past about fishing and techniques etc., not just for sale posts. When he provided his email address it was easily verified as a real person in Winnipeg. We ended up making a deal on a different reel he had posted instead, and it was in the mail with tracking same day. It arrived today as described.

So long story short, everyone needs to do their own risk assessment when making private deals online, but I can say that I didn't get burned. For what it is worth.

Thanks chille. You're right the world has changed, sadly leaving some people behind. Online shopping from strangers is very common these days and nothing to be paranoid about if a bit of due diligence is applied, as you did. Over the years I have made dozens of deals on Gunnutz for firearms and optics with people from coast to coast in Canada and have never once been ripped off. It's not rocket science, a little due diligence and if something doesnt pass the sniff test I just don't buy but I'd never jump on somebodies integrity right off the bat!

Enjoy your reel!

Given a long ago registered user. I took a slight chance and payed up front for one of the lefty's. The only thing suspicious was that it shipped same day! It's in the mail and I hope to see it in a few days.

However, unless I'm prepared to gamble and lose all my money on something, I won't E-transfer. PayPal is good in that there is still a recourse, if the item does not ship or is a scam you can open a dispute and you have a chance of getting your money back.

Whenever possible on the site unseen, I get a local friend to the area to buy in cash and just etransfer my friends.

I hope to update this thread with new avet reel picture in a few days.

Cheers.

Also the pictures of what's being sold only appear in on other place.... it appears diggler has been cheating onus here at sfbc and posting on bloody decks. 😜
