Moving to Victoria

Welcome Mike,

Cattle Point (Oak Bay) has a good paved ramp (first one on the way in) and a second steeper incline ramp further along, but I've never used that one. This launches into good crabbing area and a quick trip to the flats or Victoria waterfront. Lots of free parking and I've never had a problem with waiting too long. I wouldn't launch at a dead low but it doesn't have to be right on the high tide mark either (5ft or higher would be good). The Oak Bay marina has one but it's gotta be used on a high tide...it may just be for members, I'm not sure. One of the other guys will be able to tell you about the other launches (Equimalt, Island View Rd (Cordova Bay), etc, as I've only used Cattle Point.

Here is the link to the tide predictor for Oak Bay and the marine forecaster for Haro Strait that I used when I lived there.

Hello, mlaag. If you're looking at fishng the Victoria waterfront, Esquimlat Anglers is an excellent place to launch. Good ramp and overall good facility. For $35.00 you get unlimited launching for a year.
Here's their link.

If you wish to fish the Sooke area, there is Cheanuh Marina, Pedder bay and Sunny Shores Resort. There was another Sooke launch until recently but it has been closed due to a redevelopment of the property as I understand it. You could launch a 19 footer from any of these facilities with difficulty. All depends where you want to fish as to which one you pick.

there are 3 launches serving the victoria area
cattle point,james bay angler's and esquimalt angler's...
all of these are good, although esquimalt has the best
ramps and facilitie's.
i use cattle point because of close proximity to home
but it can get nasty on a south east blow !
