I always have wanted to do this, does anyone know of a good web site to get some ideas, or maybe have some of there own? have some friends over for dinner and everyone gets to pick their own crab
Remmember... Dungeness Crab will stop eating when they are removed from their habitat, so keeping them alive for even a day will start to degrade their quality. The starvation process will tend to make the meat spongy and will draw calcium from the shell, weakening the shell of the crab.quote:Originally posted by bacon
ya i get ya there, i want to keep them in my house, i think it will work as long as i have a filter, air pump for oxygen, and the fridge to keep them cool, the hard part is going to be getting the salt water right,![]()
I keep them in a 30-gallon livewell. I don't keep them long, so I have never had the problem of them eating each other (If you keep them long enough that would be an issue) and they do fight. I have had issues with the stronger ones breaking off the claws and legs of the weaker.quote:Originally posted by Lipripper
If the water is colder 34-38f they will slow down and not eat themselves(or each other should say).
