Just ordered a Stabicraft 2050 Super Cab with 150HP Yamaha Outboard.

Hi Kiwi
We pulled the pin on the 2050 and put it in storage for winter. Just took it out and installed a 15hp merc. It was an EXPLT model with the 25 inch mount to ventilation plate distance as recommended by Stabi and the dealer.
The standard mount plate height was only 7 inches and the 15 Merc needs 12 inches to be fully against the surface.
If it was installed on the standard mount plate the ventilation plate would have been about 7 inches below the bottom of the hull.
I installed a new 13 inch tall mounte plate and lifted the vent plate up 3 inches so now it is 4 inches below the hull bottom.

I am just beginning the rig up with the controls. You had sent me pictures of your set up. If it is easy to do, can you post pictures of where the controls came through the transom to the kicker and how you hooked up the fuel line to the tank. I suspect and hope that they have an separate
fuel draw fitting on the tank with a dip tube.

You mentioned that you had issues with the tie bar. A pict here would be great as well

We had gone out last fall with the salesman on a demo 2050 and the boat on step was very sensitive to a person walking around. So much so that I would have to compensate with a steering change. With the 15 I think I added 110 pounds or so and have a tilt to starboard.

I expect to add trim tabs to deal with this. Do you have tabs on yours? If so whose. I was thinking to get Bennet electric as compared to the electo-hydraulics that we had on other larger boats. Anyone out there who has experience with electric tabs have any recommendations?

Have you installed downriggers yet?

Thanks KC in advance for any help

That's good news that you got yourself a 2050 SC, I didn't rig my own motors, the dealer did that as part of the delivered price, I have seen other Stabicraft 2050's which look different in how they rigged the motors, mine seems like the lines are too long (both Hydraulic and throttle/gas lines) and get too tight of a bend in them when the motor is fully tilted up, I usually leave it slightly lower than full tilt just to take the strain off the cables.
I now wish I went with electric steering rather than hydraulic steering as that's been a bit of a challenge getting the kicker tiebar connected and the length of the Yamaha line set installed by the dealer seems like it's about 24" - 36" too long as it loops around on the transom.
We installed everything else as in all the boat electronics, GPS, Radar, Radio with AIS and Stereo System ourselves.
I bought Zip Wakes (300S) but have not completed the install yet, for Zip Wakes I needed to add brackets to the back of the boat, I got them made up when I was at the Stabicraft factory last year, I have cardboard templates I made up if you go that route, also still got to finish installing the Scotty downriggers, hopefully I will get time before the summer to get all that completed.

I'll get a few more pictures and post them once I get some time, busy on house chores this weekend.

Here's one of the tiebar after it got bent, maybe you can see how not to install the lines.
