Was just at Pedder 36.2 is the new leader! sucks for the guy with the 36.0 just 30 mins earlier to the scale could make that difference. Lots of numbers! Saw one guy at pedder with what look like a very marginal undersize ling and a rock cod the size of a tennis ball. Thought that was a bit of a joke.

I wish I was there! Won't get my boat back till next Friday! [xx(]

But, those ARE nice fish!!!:D

Fish are appearing pretty good throughout JDF, pockets of them here and there... Should be fun up in your usual fishin' hole this year!

Well that was some serious time out on the water. Felt like I was guiding again! The weather turned out to be amazing. Despite the projected gail force winds nothing really came about until the end of both days. Considering it seemed to be a morning bite both days it really was perfect. Now it's time to deal with the aftermath and deal with the clean up.

Thanks to all those who helped out with the derby. It was a great time. Nice to see everyone out there and talk to guys I haven't seen in years. Of course all the new friends I met including forum members was great.

Chris man , it was fun partnering up with yah. We'll see you in the next couple derbies;)

It was a great derby again this year. Tailout and I couldn't find anything big but weighed in a couple in the low 20's. Some good schools of coho out there which is a good sign for the season.

Few highlights of the derby.
Weather was good.
Lots more fish than last year.
Good times with lots of familiar faces.

The side bet paid $15,100!

Lots of money raised for Pacific Salmon Foundation (not sure of final $)

The 50/50 draw proceeds ($3500) were raised for a boy in the community who has just been diagnosed with Leukemia. The winner of the 50/50 ($3500) also donated his winnings to this cause! Good on him!

Darren Wright won the Pink Salmon Festival MR3 and Fenwick Rod and donated it to be raffled off with proceeds to the Pink Salmon Festival. $850 raised!

Good times with good people!

Good fun for sure, good to see lots of fish action. We weighed 4 fish to 24 and had lots of good steady action with some good triple header Coho to add to the mix.

As for the the winner of the 50/50 donating the money, thank you, that is awe inspiring and just an amazing sense of community! Your generosity is truly very appreciated by Matt's parents Graham and Angie as well as the entire Williams family. Matt is my Dads Nephew and a real trooper.

Yeeehaaa,Luck was with me and my son this weekend,we weighed the winning fish early saturday morning. It didn't come without some "complications",we arrived at sherringham at 4:30 to discover I had left my bait box back at the house, not a good feeling. In my previous nights revelry I was sure I had left it in the boat and everything was good to go for the morning. The thought of using artificials didn,t appeal to me but neither did the hour minimum return trip to get the bait.I looked around for a friend to scrounge from and saw Brian Gibson in his usual spot. After explaining my embarassing situation to him he floated half a dozen to me in a plastic bag and had two more offers from Dave Kennedy and Gord Martin. An hour later we hit a 15 lb.er and shortly after that the winning fish 36.2 pounds. My son Jamie played the fish perfectly even though we rarely get the chance to fish together. Then came the decision to run it in or not, thinking this was hardly big enough to win this derby that usually produces more than one 40 lb.er. AS it turned out our decision to run it in was HUGE as another 36.2 came in later in the day, giving us the win because we weighed in first.Sunday morning was less eventful, with bait in the boat and slow fishing until about 9:30 when we hit a huge fish off the rocks at Sherringham. This time I had the rod and I knew this was the winning fish.It took some short runs and did some surface rolls and then came to the boat and held ten feet below me so I could see the width and girth. This one was mid 40,s plus ! This is where the story goes south. The fish took a twenty foot run and surfaced with its head and tail out of the water and waved goodbye as it spit the hook.My pain was short lived as we were still leading to my amazement.By 10:30 we thought it was time to go so we prepared to pack up.But the story isn't over yet.As I'm cleaning up Jamie yells to me the steering has frozen up.I have cable power steering and it would only turn to the left, nothing right of center. Now I,m ten miles from home and my 9.9 Yamaha is useless because it.s a non tiller model.Time for another friend to help out,John Duncan hooked up a bridle to his Grady and pulled me home at 12 knots from Sherringham past Sunny Shores,it took about 1 hour and twenty minutes. This will be my longest post ever because I,m a one finger typer, but this is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity.RAYVON

Good to see you win this Ray as a true gentleman you really deserve it you definatlly had a lot of ups and downs makes it all that special!!!!it rather unnerving isnt it waiting all day long for the results I can say I know how you feel but you got 1st place good on you.

Now you got some money get some hydrolic steering on that boat of yours!!!! you can afford it now LOL LOL
