Just announced, hwy 4 closed until further notice in both directions due to falling and unstable risks. Update at 8pm this eve.

I thought the purpose of closing the inside lane was to allow stuff to fall into it while protecting workers of course.

It’s engineers covering their butt. The province wants it 100% safe before they open. Which will be a year away

Remember they got reamed pretty hard (and rightly so) for keeping the Duffey open in the Nov 2021 atmospheric river event, and the people that died as a result. Institutional mentality at MOTI these days is very risk averse.

I'm planning to come to China Creek on the 21st. I was hoping it would be open and unrestricted for travel. It is starting to sound like it won't be finished until next year.

It's going to be a tough winter. I commuted between Parksville and Port for most of the 80's and 90's. Glad I'm not doing that anymore.
