i/o vs outboards

This will be my season 7 for my boat and it now has 600hrs. on the main engine. Its a Volvo 4.3 fuel injected and today I did the 3rd tune up on it replacing plugs,cap rotor etc. My boat has never been in the shop as I have done all maintenance myself. So how does this stack up against the cost and maintenance of a 200 outboard over the same period?

Sounds about the same as my 200 Yami 2 stroke, except I didn't have to buy a cap and rotor.

I have 850 hours on a pair of Suzuki DF140's, and one set of sparklugs, and a coolant temp sensor..

Ourboards are _GENERALLY_ maintanance free untill they go *BOOM*. An inboard, if properly maintained, has the ability to be rebuilt over time, spreading the cost out over time, inestead of 20 grand every *BOOM*.

Wow, that is pretty impressive. I'm pretty anal about the maintenance plus I launch in the Fraser so run back home in brackish water. I bet if my boat had sat moored in salt water for the last 6 years instead of on the trailer my outdrive would look different.
