Hydrogen Powered Boat

Cool

I think Hydrogen is the future of air travel too. You can have an electric motor and not have to worry about the weight of packing enough batteries to make a trans continental trip.

Green hydrogen like this plant being built in Brazil is what we need to
build in BC. Alberta is planning blue Hydrogen plants, but green is the
way forward. There is huge global demand for green Hydrogen.

Hydrogen is the future of fuels - just need to find a more energy efficient way to isolate and concentrate it.

This is a place where solar totally makes sense.
Use sunlight which costs nothing.
Convert water to hydrogen using free sunlight,
Store the hydrogen for future use.
Repeat daily
The input costs would be the solar panels, some electrolyte, and storage containers

I wish it was that easy guy's Hydrogen is a massive pain in the butt, storage and fueling being one of the main issues. Hydrogen is one of those weird gases which generates heat when expanded (Unlike most other gases) This means to get any reasonable amount of fuel into a tank the hydrogen must be cooled to super low temperatures so that you don't super heat the tank as your fueling. The other major issue is that hydrogen is a very small molecule and such it is extremely had to to get a sealed system. Hydrogen molecules penetrate even the best O-ring materials. I spent 15 years developing hydrogen fuel system for BMW and other big names in europe before moving back to Vancouver. Hydrogen sounds nice in theory but the engineering side of actually making it work is extremely complicated. In my opinion Hydrogen is a pipe dream which gets revived every few years when there is a new crop of investors with lot of money to spend.
