Anyone have any tips on how to prevent downrigger ball spin??

Besides spending a few more bucks for the ones with the little fins I mean. I'm cheap.
What can you do with the round ones.

Without a fin, you can't stop the spin <hey...>. Probably want to do something to negate the impact of it spinning. I like using the rubber snubbers with the big swivel at either end. Ball can spin all it wants at the end of the snubber without tangling your cable.

Tie a small piece of 3/8 poly on the back of the ball.. Trailing back about 8inches,, Problem solved

so you drive a screw into the lead ball to hold the poly??

Scotty makes a downrigger clip/plastic fin combo that works great for this. Sold in most tackle shops. You weave your wire through it so no weak spots caused by excessive crimping.

like the others said, just have a good swivel on the line and it shouldn't be a problem. The ball won't be spinning really as you troll anyway, just when you stop and its up close to the boat.
