Halibut fishing between Apr 10 and Apr 15. Where do we have to go?

Hi,
we have friends coming down from Alberta between Apr 10 and Apr 15 and they want to go Halibut fishing.
We live in Sooke and want to book a trip during this time.

I heard that the conditions (tides/currents) in Sooke are not good for Halibut during the time they are here.
Where would we have to book (Port Renfrew, Ucluelet, ...) to get a decent fishing trip for Halibut?

Thanks,
Michael

Rocky point charters... Bamfield

or that osama guy... MILLS LANDING!!!

they both know how to hook up the hali's

If you live in Sooke it's a helluva drive up to Bamfield and it's the same tides there as anywhere else-try Trevor @ No Bananas http://www.nobananas.ca/

I'm a guide here and would love your business, but what Carl is saying makes sense.

If you live there and want to fish them at that time Trevor or Roy would be the way to go, save some bucks on accomodations, transportation and kill some gooders!!

If you wanna trip up Island to see new ground go for it!

I agree, No Bananas. Fished with Trevor many times - you will not be dissapointed. And, if he can't do it, he will put you in touch with someone else who will also give you a top notch fishing experience.

I would love your business and I'm sure we would catch Halibut, but you don't have to travel this far. give Trevor @ No Bananas a call.
And for the record, there are no bad tides for Hali here. We can fish anytime, any day.

It's not about who can catch him Halibut, it's about the fast currents at that time.
have a look at the current table from April 10-15
very short window for anchoring.

Thank you for all the answers and recommendations.
What is a good source for the current tables? Is there anything online?
Maybe I can convince my friends from Alberta to come a little earlier or stay a little longer if the currents are better some days earlier/later.

Thanks,
Michael

Thanks r.s craven and bigbruce for the links.
I love the graphics from the dairiki.org site.
Now it all starts to make sense to me :-)
