Great fishing in Tofino

Nice day offshore, 2 fish in the low 20's, a 26 and a 30 lb tyee.

Anchovies in blue scale heads within 10ft of the bottom did the trick

Herring was the ticket for Halibut

I am wondering why there is not a stickied thread for Tofino's fishing reports. Maybe its because the fishing always AWESOME!!!!

I will be in Tofino a week from Friday for 10 days. I sure hope the weather cooperates and the fish stick around! This will be my second of three trips this summer. I can't wait!

Bringing the "Wasted Seaman" back out to tofino july 17-24th. Hope the average size is up a little from last year. we fished 4 days last year at the exact same time. we managed a 38 and a 30 pounder last year but the rest of our fish were 20 pounds and under but we did manage to catch lots on the outside. didn't do that great on the inside but it was my first go at fishing tofino and only my 3rd trip out running my own boat. any idea of how the runs should be around that time? is it an early or late year compared to other years? if anyone else is fishing that time give me a shout on the radio or would love to exchange numbers to trade info. Im staying at the tofino swell lodge. great set up for anyone that brings there own boat or is looking for a nice place to stay. the owner has a nice boat that he charters. has his own dock so your boat is right out the front door from your room. my fishing partner and I are bringing the wives and kids so picking tofino was an easy choice to come back to. lots of stuff for the family to do while were out fishing. the inside fishing should be a nice option to take the family out if they want to do some exploring and wet a line.

Hey bard......tough call on the timing of runs/waves of fish. We were out around that same time last year and caught LOTS of spring but much like you nothing breaking the low 20's mark. I'll let Fishtofino give you his synopsis as he's more in the know......on a daily basis.

If you've got the wife and kids and access to your own boat.....take a day off and run the boat up to the hot springs or even to Cougar Annie's. Fun boat excursion for the family.

July 17-24 you should expect peak season fishing for all species. If the current size is any indication of what to expect this season we should see a really nice average by that time frame 20+ lbs with lots of Tyees. Also the coho are here and in great numbers which is really early and they are currently 4-5lbs so add a pound a week for growth we should have an average size of 7-10lbs. See you on the water!

I'll be at Tofino Swell July 10-15. I'll be fishing the inside with my wife and outside alone so I should be able to give some reports. Last year we got a 25 at Kutcous on July 19, but the rest were cohoes on the inside. Outside was good. The regulars and Chris at Tofino Swell will put you on the fish. Plus Jay is great if you stop by his store.

I always wondered that too.

Guess we don't rate

Shhhhh........less crowds lol. I don't mind the non sticky. Tofino rates higher than a lot of sticky'd area's IMO :). I often cruise "uphill" after I turn the corner and fish the Hyson, Long Beach, and Portland Pt. etc.

If you are uphill early next week......drop buzz us......we'll be coming "downhill" likely.

Might be there next week as well lads fishing on WardoWests boat, not sure about these "hills" you're referring to, is that in reference to the rollers over there?? We will pound straight out and fish the 'ole chicken ranch, call me on my Eik Landing landline number Pips!

We will be there this weekend and next weekend too. Enniberg will be moored in Ukee as usual, but we might climb the hill, depending where the fish are :)

haha I gotcha, didn't think people were too hush-hush about spots over there, especially offshore, so many fish!! good luck lads

I guess you didn't catch my sarcasm there Pips.. I don't actually want to link up with you up there, wouldn't be much fun hanging with a crusty, negative, old man like yourself..

Ya.....I forgot how to fold a cloth diaper and load your baby bottle up with vodka while singing you Mylie Cyrus songs.

No sweat....you'd likely be too busy sleeping. :p

"Call me on my number" hardly sounds sarcastic......take notes from your master....then give it a whirl. You still sound like you have a man-crush as opposed to being sarcastic; good effort kiddo. ;)

You love the diaper jokes eh pippi.. I may have worn one more recently but you will be wearing one sooner than me old man, maybe finally then you will start allowing me to set the hooks for you in kyuquot before passing the rod over as you stew in your warm mess...
