numbers terrin.... numbers dont lie.
how many pieces sampled? 5000 or 5?
how many of those sampled were infected? 5000 or 5?
what is the loading avg? 2.6 or 30 like you claim?
what were the ocean conditions during this event?

your copy paste does show any of this..... seems to be an opinion from watershield watch.
it used to be: follow the science, follow the science. no anti fish farm activist can show any so now its follow the news report, follow the news report.
Terrin you seem to be an expert on fish farms, what or how many actual science papers are currently being studied by anti fish farm activists? i'm curious

Are you suggesting that the sea lice problem at Cermaq is some kind of conspiracy from an ENGO? If so then you can easily find the information on the company's website to verify the claim. It's here in this link... spoiler alert ... yes its a problem and it's way above the allowed 3 per fish. The question is why are they allowed to be out of control right when the wild salmon smolts are migrating?

My point you ask? It's clear that there is a huge problem there in Clayoquot Sound with sealice and whatever they are doing it's not working. The only farms that don't have a problem are the ones that don't have fish in them. Bones you can try to defend them but the fish farms are reporting that they are out of control. Look at their website if you don't trust me.

Where in my post do I say anything that you are suggesting? I'm just asking for your/ there study numbers. They claim they are killing wild stock salmon........ NUMBERS?

GLG I would like to see the sampling numbers on how many wild smolts were infected by the outbreak. I couldn't give two ***** how much infection there is or was on the farm. How much on wild stocks? Smolts have been shown to swim 8/km a day through zones. Did most of the outgoing production simply swim past the danger? And are they dip netting the .05% of the weak smolts?
 
Smolts can travel 5-8km/day - if they want to. They also find a comfortable salinity zone and stay for some weeks until they reach a critical size before they take off from the estuarine/inlet areas. Often they stay and hang off of points and kelp beds picking off zooplankton and grow from like 35-45mm (for pinks and chums) and 45-65mm (coho, sockeye) to some 75-100+mm before they take off; while growing at ~1mm/day.

So they stay in the areas often also occupied by FFs for ~1-2 months. Thanks for pointing out that prolonged risk of interaction with parasites and disease vectors that flow from the FFs for some dozens of kilometers.

Is the disease levels at endemic or epidemic levels?
 
nobody tests because that info is hidden on behalf of the FFs by DFO/CFIA.

Are you saying that DFO is hiding information that the Disease is at an Epidemic level and salmon are going to go extinct in 4 years as Terrin has claimed?

I think their is some major social media mass hysteria going on.

Critical mass or Dispensation tend to occur in salmon populations when a run dips below 1000 returning spawners. Like the Thompson River Steelhead.

I think its a pretty far stretch to claim its because of fish farms and disease being at epidemic levels. I get it though people want to avoid some epidemic event from occurring. from concentrated fish farms in one area or from a foreign virus invader from the east coast.

But please spare me the embarrassing mass hysteria guys

I am saying it is impossible to test adjacent wild stocks for disease transfer & impacts when there is an outbreak at a fish farm - because CFIA and DFO hide that information citing the Privacy Act to protect the FFs from being sued. The hysteria is at the farm level.

Isent the PSF tracking that right now, I herd they put acoustic trackers right beside farms to measure if there higher loss of smolts near farms
