A few days ago I was looking for input on something to help protect the sides of my boat from damage when dropping or retrieving the anchor chain on my halibut system. "fshnfnatic" noted that he uses a roller set-up for his boat. A roller set-up was what I had in mind, to make it easier to drop and lift and protect the boat at the same time. I checked with Scotty to see if they already had something but they only had a small fairlead for rope.
I also wanted a quick installation and removal so, using a bit of left over scrap steel here's a contraption that I came up with. I will be adding a couple of "post" at the front to keep the rope on the roller especially when pulling it in.. Would have perferred to use aluminum but can't weld it with my machine so this will do for now. After a few uses I'm sure a modification or two may be required.
Thoughts for improvements would be welcomed and appreciated.
New to posting photos so hopefully they load OK.

It fits snug over the Scotty downrigger attachment on the swivel base and just pins through the same hole as the downrigger.

Swivel out when needed.

Drop the chain and anchor over and feed it out or pull it in..
