EZ Marine Anchor System

Hey Everyone

I am looking to rig my boat up with a anchor pulling system. We fish Nootka/Esperanza/Highway areas and want to be able to drop anchor for some bottom fishing.

I have heard a bit about the "EZ Marine marine anchor system". We have a 27' boat, it has a manual anchor with chain/rope ready to go, but we dont really want to be pulling 300' of anchor line by hand. is this EZ marine system one of the better ones out there, and where can a guy find one?

If not, what works well?

We will be in Comox / Campbell River area to pick one up.

Thanks!
Kevin

You will get nay sayer's , but I have used one for several years and it has worked well.
The other option is the stainless ring which I haven't used.

Anchor Puller Ring Style

When you are ready to raise your anchor simply clip the ring to your anchor line. Motor forward (at about 5 knots) at a 30 degree angle to your anchor line being careful not to run over the line. As you come even with the anchor you should feel the anchor break free - if this does not occur stop and go back to free the anchor. You will continue to motor forward after the anchor breaks free dragging the buoy behind the boat and pulling the line through the ring. The buoyancy of the buoy will float the anchor to the surface. Once the anchor has reached the ring you can turn back toward the buoy and pull in your slack anchor line. The weight of the anchor chain should counterbalance the weight of the anchor to prevent the anchor from spooling back to the bottom.

Yeah, works like a hot damn!!

I had understood that you wanted both your boat and your anchor attached (separately) to a scotchman so you could release the boat quickly without losing the anchor. Am I wrong?

I used plastic sleeve puller for 15 years, then I switched! Steel ring is the better option. Easier to drop hook, you can add extra rope and it pulls right thru rings, My foul hooked spreader bars pull right thru (can't do that with the sleeve puller). I run 40' 3/8 chain and 700' of Samson Braid on a 24 seasport . Check with Paul or Trevor at TroTac in Victoria or Mike at Harbour Chandlery in Naniamo . They have drawings to set ya up correctly!
