Here's a couple of HARDY reels that I really like. A L'il Itty-bitty SUPER Silex and multiplier fly reel.

Shelf 3
A few more Hardy's I've picked up over the yrs, fished all but the Uniqua 3 3/4 on the left, not a great feel to this one so its still a virgin.
Next is a Marquis 8/9 multiplier, a #7 multiplier, middle back is a Zane #1 fishes very nice. Beside it is a 3 5/8 Gem. Just in front of that is a 3/4 Marksman fun to fish on the Elk river near GR. Lastly for this shelf is the No 3 Uniqua.

Here's one that just came into my hands yesterday afternoon, given to me by our buddy Don who is a longtime SFBC forum member. It was fun chatting over all the local fishing history and coming to realize that we all knew so many of the same characters. Thanks again for this truly OG PFLUEGER trolling reel mounted to an ancient stubby cane rod. Your awesome Don.

Shelf 4
Islanders, I like the MR2's the best, free wheel lever, had a few(4) MR3 and sold them all, what else can I say lol
All bought used, all like new.
ARMR was bought 10yrs ago for my sweetheart and she caught a 25lb spring 1st trip out, off shore Winter Harbour, no boats around shut the kicker off and about 20mins later in the net..fun day
Then MR2 , TR3 , MR2LA, a Steelheader a light pink MR2 for the sweetheart (she graduated from the AR lol), an IR1 fly reel for the Elk River, and a small levelwind given to me unknown..20240114_130652.jpg

Another day another set of reels,
To me, these are the most valuable and sentimental in my collection, would not sell these for anything, they were my dads, who past in Jan 2023. A couple of older Mitchell's with spare spools.

Love the old Mitchell reels, I don't own any now, but I did. We used them when I was a kid in Skeena region around Hazelton on the Kispiox, Sheena and Bulkley. What a blast on springs, coho and steelhead, dollies. As a kid it was heaven...I am sure it still is.

Some fly reels today. A Farlow made in England with very similar qualities and workmanship as HARDY. it's a great little reel. Then a pair of HARDY Marquis SALMON No.1 reels with the dual handles done specially for the BC salmon fishery. Love em for the lost art of bucktailing the shallow shorelines. Then a HARDY UNIQUA. Boring to some, but I love the simplicity of its styling. Tough little reel.

More modern, for what many term hi-tech jigging, but isn't really at all much different than what we have done all along. Yes the rods and reels and shapes of lures have adjusted over time. Doug Field carried on after his Dad Rex to become a pioneer in light short rods. He was ahead of his time with the technique and most anglers laughed at his trout looking set up. It made him one of the most successful jiggers on the coast and in my opinion way too far ahead. It took decades for anglers to finally catch up and today in recent times, I even get the odd funny look from anglers that still don't understand.

This custom is married to my favorite reel for jigging. It's a Daiwa Tatula loaded with 20lb J Braid. The jig lure is made by me.

Bottom shelf..
Some Peetz and Longstones..
The 1 Peetz was my grandfather's(born 1900) on my moms side, she was born in 1937 and talked of fishing with him off Victoria's waterfront when she was a kid.
In the pic you can see his handwriting recording the line and lb test, he also scribed his sin# into it. The reel came to me with his 2 bamboo rods when he passed. I took 1 rod and reel as is to Nootka and fished it one trip back in mid 90's, had an amazing trip and have not fished it since.
The Longstone on right was my Uncle's, which again, I was given when he passed. I bought (used) the second one and fish that set alot, though not as much since I got the islands.
