Everyday post a photo of a reel you own.

I just aquired this little beauty. HARDY Bros. the Silex. I know I'm not supposed to buy anything...so I didn't. I gave him my PENN spinning reel, he gave me a centerpin. Good deal for him, good deal for me. I don't need more HARDY, but I can never resist them for the most part anyway.

This one is pretty dang cool. Working on the authentication and history of it.

I'll keep you posted. It works perfectly, right down to the drag and the clicker.

Might be fun on a cane rod in the pool. 🙂

My newest toy, I'll marry it up to one of the HARDY trout rods I just got from @Hardy Guy thanks Randy the rods are better than expected.
A bit of an update on my DAM QUICK JR spinning reel. I have paired it up with an old school ultralight fiberglass FENWICK trout multi piece pack rod. I think it will be a great choice for local Vancouver Island trout and bass. It's all about the fun.

Ready to drop. This combo is an Okuma komodo married to a Shimano Grappler. The starting jig is a 3oz herring body style that I make.

It turns out that this reel is a known reel that Boris Peetz modified while experimenting through his design process, adding in a spring pal check system into the hub with an enguagement mechanism. The original reel did not have this option before Boris Peetz did it. I would never have dug deeper had I not found this reel tucked away in a dusty old box at the PEETZ workshop. It is also the exact reel that is displayed in Doug Pollard's book "PEETZ a Reel For All Time". I was able to fix the reel so as the check pal system works flawlessly again by refixing the gear so it didn't spin any more as it was meant to be in a solidly fixed position.

Are these reels you collected over the years or acquired with the Peetze purchase. Pretty cool either way
Some are some aren't. Some from PEETZ, some I have collected over the years. 50% of PEETZ reels, I already had. Some I bought after the purchase of the assets and the other half were in the assets. They were part of the nostalgic display the previous owners had started. They were missing a numer of reels to fill out each build era. With the help of some of my friends I am short three reels in order to represent every era. This includes some protypes by Ivan Peetz and Bill Hooson. This latest one is apparently a prototype that Boris worked on for some time, then stopped and invented the Pacific reel, the rest is history. 🙂
