Going up this Saturday and was wondering what the limits are this year. I know the 77 cm rule is in effect for the inside but was wondering what the rules are for the outside.

Personally, I think that these maps should be printed and supplied by DFO to all tackle & marina operations in the area, in numbers that allow them to be given to all fishermen. Not everyone has a color printer, and there is way too much info to remember in a given area. And these maps don't print worth a d@mn in B&W.

so on the inside you can only keep 77 cm and smaller. On the outside, can you keep any size king or is there some rule on that. Don't want to get another fishing award this year from fisheries.

Actually, that is the very reason I want DFO to print the maps and supply them.
A couple of years ago, I did exactly that. I printed the 4 maps for Area 25/125, including the page of text on the back of each map. I took it to Staples in Campbell River and had them print and laminate.
Cost = $15.00 !!!
Last year, I printed the maps on my own B&W laser printer. I ended up fishing in a closed area in Nootka Sound (an area I rarely fish) because I could not tell the color difference in the shades of gray that were printed. I had to call DFO on the radio and ask them. It took them about 20 minutes to figure it out!
I'm all for conservation and following the rules, but you have to be able to easily understand the rules. When they change 3 times in a mile, it's a bit much.
The easy way around this is for DFO to design maps that when printed in B&W (greyscale to us photographers), that you can easily tell the difference. Putting stripes and patterns in the shades would work. Various shades of blue do not.
Also, while on the subject - WHY do we have different lines for Coho and Chinook for off-shore fishing?
At the enterance to Esperanza Inlet, the Coho line is direct from Tatchu Point on the North to Ferrer Point on the South, with a small area down to the Middle Reef Light.
At the same time, the Chinook line is 1 nautical mile out from that line. Could we not use the same line for both?

On the outside minimum size is 45 cm, no maxium size.
Inside Georgia Straight, ECVI, size is minimum 62 cm.

That's too logical Jim. When did fisheries ever do much logical. It's the same way here in Washington. I sometimes think they do it on purpose just to frustrate fisherman and deter us from opportunities. I know that's not the case but they sure don't use their brains.

I guess there were too many Conuma 4 year olds being caught within one mile of the surf line? Or DFO could have and probably got wise to people hooking them at Ferrer and letting them run outside the surf before hauling them in? Saw that a lot before the 1 mile restriction. I do know the Comma 4 year old's are the reason for the 77cm.
