Stay tuned on this one. Amazon just put in 700 million. That’s a lot into a company that doesn’t have a tuck on the road.
I think for 700 million and with Stomrtroopers help we could come up with a pretty sweet ride...battery and motor is what it’s all about at this stage.
Tesla is pretty amazing with their tech. Are they making money?

Amazon orders 100K electric delivery trucks from Rivian as part of going carbon neutral by 2040

Amazon will be stepping up its efforts to reduce its climate impact, CEO Jeff Bezos announced on Thursday. The company will be ordering 100,000 electric delivery trucks from Michigan’s Rivian as part of this commitment, Bezos said. The commerce giant will seek to meet its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2040 – 10 years earlier than is outlined by the United Nations Paris Agreement.

Bezos said at a National Press Club event in Washington where he made the announcement that the updated timeline is due to the increase in climate change, which has been more aggressive than even some of the more serious predictions had anticipated five years ago whine the Paris agreement was reached.

Amazon’s overarching efforts to make the company carbon neutral are bundled under a plan the company is calling the “Climate Pledge,” which will be open to other companies as well. In addition to efforts like the Rivian order for emission-free delivery vehicles, Amazon will also be seeking to reduce its footprint through other means, including solar energy and carbon offsets.

Rivian noted that this was the largest order to date of any electric delivery vehicles, and that they’d begin actually deploying for Amazon starting in 2021. Amazon led a $700 million investment round in Rivian in February, and the company announced a further $350 million from auto industry giant Cox Automotive earlier this month. Automaker Ford revealed a $500 million investment in Rivian in April, too.

Rivian also has plans to build and ship consumer vehicles, including the all-electric pickup truck and SUV it revelled late last year, which it aims to begin delivering to customers in 2020.

I am not quite shur about electric boats ,cars, and trucks.when the rains and mean tides meet will they burst into flames with you in it.or in prolonged power outages due to weather will you need a genset to get you out of harms way.Where is all the lithium for batterys comming from ?and how do we secure those poverty stricken countrys so we may harvest there lithium resourses?add salt to h20 and you have a great conducter of electricity .when we salt our roads in winter will there be problems.https://bc.ctvnews.ca/caught-on-cam...nto-water-at-port-moody-boat-launch-1.4425001

In certain areas for sure as they should. No reason why people living in urban areas shouldn’t be running at least one vehicle that is electric. When one drives into the cities the dark smog cloud that hangs over them is disgusting. If nothing else for everyone’s own health people should be switching over. No reason why delivery vehicles can’t be electric as well.

This is more of a problem that can be addressed by Company's enforcing proper corporate social responsibility programs. As with any area in demand, unfortunately, ripe to be exploited.

Sounds like batteries might be on the list with the sweat shop clothing, high end running shoes, electronics, pretty much anything from China, Arab oil, agricultural products from the third world and blood diamonds. Man not much you can buy nowadays.

That is what got my attention, pretty easy to upgrade a battery versus an engine.
