I'm not trying to be hard on anyone or rub them the wrong way or come off like I know more, all I'm doing and saying is what I personally have found over the past 15 years of prawn fishing the local area and what seems to be successful tactics. On the other hand fishassassin came right out calling me a liar for what I have to say.
Take what I say as you wish, but don't call me a liar. If any of you have tips to share with me I'd greatly appreciate your ideas too.

Prawnhunter..... I have three avid local fisherman that now want you to show us what you know. I tell you what.... You take us out give us a lesson since you think we need one. You keep your limit of real prawns not smalls and mediums or shrimp or berried prawns and release the rest I will flip the bill for the day.

I know almost every boat that fishes this over fished area and most of the owners. I ask again which boat are you in? As I will be watching for you out there.

I won't even waste my time on this spot but you will...I am very interested in why?
 
Join us then.... we will all get schooled by a guy that has prawned this area for 15 years. We could have a beach party well we are at it. Who else wants to join is on the fun.....Maybe we can all have a chance to buy one of his traps at the end of the day. What a great way to sell your traps.
 
x5, I'm in:D....just NOT this weekend,(off to Calgary in the a.m for "THE GAME" Sat.:p),

some buddies and I have set traps there,been over a year now, but have never seen those kind of #s in the past,sounds like the prawns are making a HUGE comeback there;):rolleyes:....

edit...if it WERE that good in said spot...would the commercial guys not set their gear there?

Just talked to a guy who prawns commercial and he had a group out a couple of weeks back. 8 traps and they were just shy of 40 lbs a little over 750 keepers.
This was for 5 guys on the mainland side of Texada. They threw back about 300

yes I'd agree to those #s , had some GREAT sets somewhere;) over there also,and HUGE prawns to boot...
 
just remember, the regs states,4 traps per fisher and 200 peices per fisher,no egg bearers, if you are over I have heard of a max fine of $500.00,prawns are shrimp just bigger so if you have shrimp they are included in your catch.

Sure that's great to hear but that is not the Denman Island hole. I have had great sets else where. But 1400+ @ Deman...HAHAHAHA I can't wait to see this one. You want to come watch?

There is 1 commercial that tries every year if it is windy as he has a small boat. I know the boat and the opperator. He leaves as soon as the wind dies off. Even for him it's a waste of time. But hey maybe I should see if he wants to come out with Prawn Hunter so he and his crew can learn how to fish that spot. What a great day we could a have. Maybe a fire on the beach. Who's bringing the hot sauce?

NO egg bearers? does this hold true for commie guys as well? The reason i ask Is i went and picked up a few pounds from Pjo's boat down at the doc a few weeks back, and 90% were egg bearers! I love the eggs super tasty.
 
Ya know ya try and be nice, fish butt can kiss my a!! I couldn't care less if you buy my trap or fish with a garbage can full of holes. I never said I get 1400 per set every time. I have seen it happen is what I said and the hole still produces limits every trip. You may want to read back. I wouldn't go prawning with you if you paid the bill and bought drinks after. you seem like a know it all that clearly has no more room to learn as your head is too swollen with ego.

You do not have to release berried prawns and shrimp for recreational harvesting.. It is a "suggestion" only.

Is that not area 15-1? That would be closed, would it not? Unless he just snuck them in over the boundry line at Coho Point, all of Texada is closed.
