Excited to say we got some progress done with a little project I've been looking forward to. Yes it's made of the devils alloy but i kinda dig it. Hopefully it's the right unit for the application.

It will be tiller steer, fishing/exploring tender.

Keep in mind we never done this before so it's not perfect-but it ain't bad!

Wicked! Looks like a fun boat. I like that there appears to be no benches across so you can walk to the bow without stepping over them
Yeah that was a major design consideration. it needs to hold prawn gear etc. So a flat floor was essential. Glad you agree :)

Cool little boat. Never seen a delta pad on something that small - bet it will really fly. What are you going to put on it - a 25hp tiller?

Ah, the good old angle grinder sawblade combo! Nothing terrifying about that at all :p Hows the team green machine holding up? Also, did not know conrad did hulls that small.. Was it cut by CJM?

Hi guys. Quick update. Installed a 40hp merc 3 cylinder fuel injected. The boat was fine with 30hp but was a bit sluggish with gear or 3 people. With the 40 I'm able to cruise at 25mph around 11mpg 2 ppl and gear. WOT 1 person it will do 36-37mph. Still enjoying the hull, i really like how it's stable when fishing.
I also added a sonic hub I was tired of lugging around a portable speaker. Still a few more tweaks such as a couple new rod holder locations and a forward spot light for night time. Really loving the heated handgrip on the big tiller. 1000025345.jpg1000025872.jpg1000025873.jpg

Green machine runs great, and yup cjm cut it out.

11mpg outstanding! what a weapon. Had it in any rough stuff yet?
It's pretty decent for a 12'11" aluminum boat. What I have found in a following sea it's fantastic, dry and predictable. Absolutely no funny business like bow steer etc. However, in a head sea once it gets over 2-2.5ft tight chop you gotta pin it and hop over the stuff or slow down, and then you lose the ability to split the waves with the deep-vee because you're sitting more on the back of the boat's planing surface which is flatter. I hate to say it for my bank account's sake, but a pair of small electric trim tabs would be a game changer. For now, I just put a few cannon balls in the bow if it gets rough and I have to head into it.

While trolling in big water it's comfortable, the big wide chines in the back make it stable like a flat bottom boat and it feels very safe even in much nastier stuff than you might imagine for a 13' skiff. Having the stringer system and solid flat floor is a nice feature for a skiff of this size. It adds time and $ for the build but it's nice having a flat floor for walking around.

It would be a cool hull at 16' and i bet the 40 would push it no problem with the extra planing surface. So far I've been extremely happy with the size and economy this boat offers. Eventually, it's going to live on the back of my 40' boat which is just over 13' beam, and if she was even 6" bigger she wouldn't fit in the boat house so no 2ftitus for me!

Brando did a fantastic job laying down the welds, if you have a project in mind for a custom skiff you won't be disappointed.
