Comox Harbour / Red Bell fishing reports

Yea ive seen them in a few fish i think they are a parasite that forms cysts? are they hard? did ya eat it?

The are hard, but pop when squeezed, and I have to admit, I lost my appetite.

10 anglers, including me, fishing on SS beach this morning, but nothing caught, wonder where all the fish have gone?

I was out in the harbour yeaterday aft. for 5 hrs not a sniff.
Did manage to land one and lost 3 on the weekend.Morning fishing

Was out in the harbour Monday PM no bites, marked a few by the green can but they might have been dogs. Last year on the 7th was the peak for my boat. One week late or are they all up the river? My bet is late. GLG
Might add that wind perdictions for Thursday and Friday are 20&25 knots in the morning. Hope it's wrong.

Tried to fish Kitty tonight but too much wind. Saw 8 small boats at Point Holmes no wind there. Anyone go out and try the harbour? GLG

Tried the harbour yesterday pm, trolled for four hours, no hits, just one dog. Caught a coho early this morning though at SS beach, another unclipped of course, so it had to be returned. Caught 32 coho this year, only three clipped. I've never caught so many unclipped coho as this year. Anyone else having the same problem?

Thanks gallows for the update. I have also caught lots of coho. Only found 2 that were marked. That was 3 weeks ago. Will be going out to Kitty this weekend if the winds hold off. Will report results. GLG

Winds died off at 4. So much for weather network 15-25NW.
Caught 2 teenagers at the Bell, 5-6 PM
One liked a big ugly white hootch.

Fished near bell buoy at Comox on Saturday. 2 shakers and a dog. Did not see any nets out. Went to Kitty on Sunday afternoon 3 undersize and one wild coho that hit my line as I was putting the clip on. Lots of dogs. I did speed up but not sure it helped. Was told that Saturday was the day to be at Kitty. GLG

Scratched up a low 20's off of Pt. Holmes sunday eve.
Saw one netted at the bell later. Still slow.

Well I am glad to see I am not the only one getting skunked in the harbour and I am glad to see other people now realize the harbour is open.Had a few people give funny looks as the drove by.
In the last two sundays out I got one dog and thats it.I am using bait and a purple haze flasher at varying depths and speeds but nothing.Any hints?
There is a lot of seals out there and there is also a pod of porpoise that I have seen both times.
Hope they come in soon.

do you ever use jigs in the harbour, or just troll?

i found that jigging is a very effective way to target concentrated groups of fish.

Thanks CA for the info. Was out last night from 6 to 8 and not a bite. Looks like we might have to fish at the Q's or Kitty. GLG

Thanks for the info everyone.Yes I did try some jigging with a holographic zinger and did get some nibbles but no slabs(Damn barbless hooks!!)My buddy has been out at Kitty Coleman and is doing well.He landed a 19lbs nook lastnight(*******!!)so that is my mission for the weekend.I lived in Ucluelet for 12 years and thought I was some kinda fish slayer and now I am very humbled.Dont get me wrong though like they say "the worst day fishing is better than the best day working".
