tug boats have a tailing line on the barges for the reason if the towline breaks they can go to the stern of the barge and pick up the tailing line and hang on to the line until they can get a new bridle in place

wow what a riot that derby was! we got 10 in the boat, and lost 5, and had 5 strikes which didnt hook up. all in all one of my most fun days on the water in a while. that was impressive getting a double header after showing up for 5 mins blueorca! how many did u guys end up nailing?

Wow what a blast! Hooked up at least 13 with 7 fish making into the boat! One fish, thought it was gone line totaly slack and boom the fish jumped out of the water and almost landed in the back of the boat. Can't wait to go again today! These fish like to fight !!!

Cheers ME

p.s. Thanks Blue Orca for all the great tips they work!!!!

Happy Hookin!!!

then you look again, and they jump and hit the downrigger eh kyle?
hey blue do u know what the derby winner ended up being?

Derby winner was 15 pounds 6 oz
Another great and well organized event sponsored by the Browns Bay folks.
Lots of prizes (over 70 in total), and best of all, lots of money raised for the Greenway Land Trust.
Over 5500 pounds of fish caught over the two days by 183 paid entrants.
The weather held out too, which was nice.
I had a number of people say HI...sorry if I didn't acknowledge you by name,(should wear name tags next year...really big ones!)

I'm not sure where I placed, (not really important) but I had a two day total just under 100 pounds, and my wife won't let me bring any more fish home....time to fire up the smoker (both sides of our family will get canned/smoked salmon for x-mas this year)

And the best thing of all..........
watching everyone have a super time catching the most under-rated Salmon out there....man their fun!
I'm taking a couple days off to rest.......<img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>

wow thats quite the haul! thanx for spreading the word about this fishery cause it is something i will do yearly now. all in all a great fishery and a great derby. I would say chum in the salt outfight all other salmon for their size, and i have yet to get one over 12 pounds in the salt.

Wow what a derby 15 fish 13lbs the biggest, over 160lbs of fish we brought in. Plus one 11 lb coho. The marina was great the weather was great and the fishing was fantastic. What a weekend not soon to be forgot. Thanks to Blue Orca and his insight on this great derby and great fishing tips!!!

Cheers ME

Happy Hookin!!!
