These Marlins of that generation still have wood in the transom?
My good buddy just bought a 2024 marlin, its awesome.

1998 on had better wood. In 2015 they had no wood. I think the chances of having to redo a transom and fuel tank are a lot less in 2004, than 1998 but there were some that had problems in 2009.

They were focused on improving the quality of their boats and in particular the transoms on every redesign. 2004 had a new marlin launched. Other new models weren’t launched until 2010.

Grady of that gen uses something called "no rot wood" in the transom. But some larger hulls are also balsa cored so you gotta make sure deck and hull hardware are cored and bedded properly just like any other boat. T top is also balsa cored of that generation best to core and through bolt and not screw. I'm a big fan of the marlin now.
