That may take the cake for most absurd priced boat in the last year.
I was planning on keeping mine until my build is done...but if I can sell my DE 20 with a 302/280 combo for, say, a third of that...that would be TEN TIMES what I bought it for six years ago. I'll just build faster so I can be on the water this year!

The more you can make from the sale of your boat the less you have to pull from elsewhere, "no sense of having friends if you can't use them" go fishing with your buds until the new one is built...haha :)

Fair, but being boatless is an empty feeling. Your freedom to seek solitude on the pond could be lost forever!

It's best to keep a smaller multipurpose sled around just incase a situation like this pops up;) This is the thinking my wife rolls her eyes at regularly.... but it's defensible!

Recent example: some dude sees my little 15' whaler and offers me twice what I have into it including every gallon of fuel through it from the last 5 years. NOW, if I only had the whaler I'd tell that guy to pound sand and get his greesy eyeballs of my boat. The thought of selling would be outrageous! Because I have the big boat I don't have to stress about the potential for being boatless for more than a couple weeks and can make the financially prudent decision to let go the whaler and take profits. See, perfectly sound logic:)

The problem then is if you want to buy something be prepared to over pay big time. I think right now there’s a lot of non serious sellers that just throw an absurd price on their boat hoping some dummy will come along and pay it. Just like the housing market, it’s a sellers market but then you have to buy in the same hot market. I foresee a lot of boats going on the market at the end of this season or next spring granted covid settles down and people want to travel again. They will realize how little they use the boat and want to put money toward travel.

I second that!
