That’s crazy sorry to hear that so far they’ve been great to me lower rates then most of the places I inquired to with the same coverage. Will report back when I have to renew in may!
 
Dolphin isn't the underwriter, they're the broker. Sometimes based on claim history, you won't have a lot options in who will actually insure you.

Exactly! I’ve dealt with Dolphin many times and they are service oriented. The Underwriters set the prices and the brokers get a commission

I've never had a claim. They quoted me $1,800.00 for the first year which I paid. They asked that I get a survey for the next year. I sent them the survey info. They increased my rate to $3,400.00 and asked that I pay a top up for the year already passed. Ridiculous.

Was there something that changed or was undisclosed originally? There's no way they just arbitrarily came up with that.

one more off topic comment: It then depends on who your broker is and how they will go to bat for you if the underwriter is being difficult. Some swear by their broker from past claims where they pushed as much as they could to get the best outcome.

Yeah, I went from a boat marine specialist to a great insurance agent who got me the coverage I wanted. She was a referral from my realestate agent neighbour, shifty but thrifty!
