Boats on Used Victoria and Other Areas

Am I missing something on the DE? A pickup truck costs that much why would a boat be any different, probably took more hours to build that boat than it did bolt a truck together. If you’ve priced out materials and labour lately that doesn’t seem all that bad for a bran new rig. Look at all the other local glass boat builders closing up shop they wouldn’t be doing that if profit margins were high…

To me, it doesn’t matter if the price is justified. I just find it to be subjectively too expensive. I think somewhere along the raw goods line we have seen a significant increase and unfortunately it might be the builders who suffer.

the old adage of just because you can doesn't mean you should

It’s not a can or should it’s a must or bust. DE doesn’t manufacture the raw materials they buy it just like anyone else. The cost is the cost they aren’t in business to barely cover their expenses.. im sure the profit margin is not what you think it is or the other glass boat builders wouldn’t be closing their doors.

well ill put money that they dont sell for less then 40% margins because no business would ever survive at that rate. Its a depreciating asset just like the way over priced trucks and cars out there.

The stuff just straight up isnt worth the asking price but they can ask whatever and if some idiot pays it then perfect! no harm no foul. But when you price stuff this high ALL the time, causes the USED market to go for a dump cause joe blow down the road thinks his clapped out boat or clapped out / miled out truck / car is worth a MINT!

it sucks that some are shutting down shop and DE is a wicked company Ive owned 1 and it was an awesome 15' boat good starter boat for sure. Its just everyone keeps taking and taking and raping/pillaging and most people are fed up with it lol and I dont blame them and something eventually has to give!

One of the guys at the Cove has one , it's about 20 years old and really nice shape. I could never understand why DE didn't pod them

I owned one (DE206) w/a F225 Yamaha and 9.9 Yam kicker and it was too much weight for the hull.Water was very close to splash well top and always water in the well that came in the drain holes.I think the 200 Yam 4 cyl. would be better or some other lighter brand. And as "Seabeyond" say's,it has very little aft deck space. The boat manual that came with it showed a podded model, but I've never seen one.
