Needs a new flywheel every so often. Every 100 hours of run time between 4400 and 4800 rpm or something weird like that. Yamaha was covering the work but you still have to get it to them. Result of not changing was a broken crank I believe.

The over under kaboom is around 600 hours. Flywheel issues among other problems. 350 yams were a big mistake, hence they don't exist anymore. Plan a swift repower if buying boat with one.
If you need a 350 single go suzuki (as long as you have good fuel in your area abyhow. Believe zuk figured out the earlier lower octane fuel intolerance issue on the latest rendition).

Kaboom!!! They generally last 90-110 hrs from my experience I did hear of one that had 800 or something though but never saw it myself

This is one motor that really seems like it's dogged by internet forum half-truths, rumours, and arm-chair engineers. There are so many threads about these motors on The Hull Truth (THT) with a few happy owners and a whole range of people shouting how flawed the motor is.
There have been 3 versions of the motor
F350A
F350B
F350C
There were two major problems when these motors were introduced:
1. The flywheel
2. The exhaust manifolds hold water and are/were prone to freezing damage if not winterized with antifreeze
The flywheel problem is that it has a rubber damper to control harmonic vibration of the crankshaft that occurs in a certain RPM range. The affected range is 3500-4200RPM. In this range the damper is working hard, and it will wear out and eventually fail. If you operate the motor in this range with the failed damper you will break the crankshaft. Obviously bad. I believe that the B and definitely C motors use the ECU to track the hours operated in this range and let you know when the flywheel needs to be changed. Yamaha will change the flywheel for free, which is a quick procedure.
I haven't run one myself, so I guess I'm just part of the internet forum crowd... The owners of the F350C seem to like the motors when they're installed on big, heavy boats. The motor filled a niche that nothing else could match when they were introduced

It's simple really,the boats are built in south-east U.S where the only rain they get comes with 180 mph winds.Nobody boats in a hurricane,so they don't need wipers.
