Boats on Used Victoria and Other Areas

@Robert Snyder don't pull the trigger on something overpriced and underpowered/mediocur power. My buddy just got 6 grand off the asking price because it was 2 stroke power 20+ years old. Pay a premium for the desired inboard leg combo or auto board you like and still plan to drop 5-10k in the unexpected bank for the season, or 15-20k for a full repower to give you peace of mind for 4-5. Worst comes to worst buy a little inflatable or tinny with a 9.9 you can use for the season and keep the 9.9 for your next boat. There are people who don't lose money on boats but they are rare or do different boat math than me!

Sounds like good solid wise advice! I’m going to go look at this boat regardless so my wife can get in and look around to see if it will work for her, at the very least, I have a viewing appointment @ 5:00 tomorrow.

I’m sure someone has a clean Victoria, at a good price, out there with the dual prop combo, even if the motor needs a rebuild :)

Once the world opens back up again (god knows when that will be) there is going to be lots of boats for sale for cheap.
Anyone that owns a half decent 18 to 25 foot boat can tell you it is minimum $5000 a year to maintain.
trailer maintenance, insurance, batteries, servicing, upgrades, electronics, moorage, launch fees, winterizing, storage, not to mention tackle and fuel.

People will realize they can spent that money on a 3 week Mexican vacation every winter and sit on the beach and drink beer, rather than spend all their time polishing their boats. They will also have no time to use their boat because every weekend they will have to go to Aunt Thelma’s 80th birthday.

The same will go for real estate, post pandemic (god knows when that will be) people will be saying why did I get a million dollar mortgage on a house that overlooks the freeway, or next to the sewage treatment plant. I could have saved that money and used it to travel the world.

with all due respect, there are some vast generalizations in there.

It does have a Hook2 I believe and VHF but thats about it for electronics (no need to have too much on lakes i guess). It's a private sale, in Alberta, just tipping $50,000, but one owner fresh water boat. I always think resale so debating if I can get my $$ back if need be...? Yes the Monaro hull kit is $50K and like everything else mucho-dearie's!
I'll say that you would be WAY overpaying for that 622. Ive rarely ever seen those with inboards for over $30k.
These are all old adds but imo that seller is dreaming at that price.

Personally, my double eagle 206 doesn't cost 5000/year unless I include all the fuel for it, the insurance for the tow vehicle, all the fuel for the tow vehicle even when I'm not towing, all the maintenance of the tow vehicle, and all the beer I drink while hanging out at the places I go by boat.

Going to be a long wait for any of these things to happen.

Hey I agree, I just came back from the viewing of the 2008 Explorer 622 and, well, let me just say that I was disappointed with "my expectations" of this boat. My wife and I really felt cramped in the cabin and it wasn't as family friendly as we are looking for, so I have changed my search towards the Trophy 2359 w/ transom door, dual prop and alaskan bulkhead. Looking to spend around the $35,000 ish range, not sure what that will get me but trying to stay 2000 or newer.

O and the seller will not budge from the price! The trip was priceless in my option as I now know what I dont want... I am still on the hunt for that FREE money :)

I mean everything in the market is horribly priced and out to lunch these days. But in this market I’m sure someone will take it..there’s always room for negotiation on the price depending how bad the guy needs the money n what not, for a 22 year old kid like myself I definitely can’t afford these beautiful $100k boats like some of you guys Atleast not yet ;) could be nice with some elbow grease, just my 0.2cents anyway

My hourston always finds a way to extract a minimum of $5000 to $10,000 off me each season, not including fuel and moorage, for maintenance. Next up, drive and bottom paint yeehaw...I thought about 5 seconds of doing it myself when I had it home for the redneck tuneup and then banged my head on the drive for the 40th time and gave in.

I'm making this thing great for the next guy.

i get your point for sure, but why buy a boat that really is only worth 3500-5k tops!! then have to put a tonne of money into it just to make it safe..
my first boat was 19' reinell out of a back yard. 1500 bucks and in decent shape "not stress cracked anywhere", tonnes of elbow grease to get it clean and used for a season. Sold it at the end of the season for 3500.00.. this boat has none of those qualities. i looked over the add. it is an honest add. the guy has a pic of the transom split.

You have seen on here what that model of Trophy sells for, so you know that will not happen. Especially with a dual prop leg and the 5.7 litre engine. There were 2 posted here in the last few days, one for 55K with the best engine/drive option and one in the high 40's with a smaller engine and single prop drive. What other boat type are you open to?
