Yeah there's a sailboat in our marina that the guy bought brand new 15 years ago and never used it. He passed away recently and the marina has had to put a lein on it as there is no family

How does the border opening help us Canadians in our local market?

Also, I personally think the CERB money is not the money that's inflating the local boating market. The CERB is mostly helping the lower income portion of our society. The people buying boats are the people who otherwise would've been taking the family to Disneyland for a 2 week holiday. They're stuck in Canada now with money to spend. That's my opinion anyway.

It’s supply and demand. I for one shop for boats down in the States as there’s a bigger inventory. Exchange rates are not the best, I know but you could offset that by finding a good boat or a motivated seller. Bottom line is, opening the boarder would help with the supply side of the equation and that’s how it will impact our local market.

covid is pushing peeps to spend their would be vacation money on boats. Problem is, most have no idea what what a boat is never mind their worth. Feels like the vancouver housing market 10 years ago. Knock downs selling for 200k over asking on an already outrageous amount. Good time to sell if you’re so inclined.

Not to sound defensive, but I have a Commander with new outboards. I’ve had offers higher than that for my boat. If that 26’ Hourston that is listed for 85k sells anywhere close to that, I can’t see how a nice Commander wouldnt sell for 60k with new power. I realize Hourston has a crazy following but a 26’ Hourston and a 26’ Commander aren’t even in the same league in my opinion and I’ve had both boats. No offence to Hourston owners because I do like them and they handle chop better than a Commander but that’s it. The design of the boats , the amenities it offers and the quality of build isn’t comparable in any way.

I think he was trying to say, you'll never put the money and sweat equity we put into a boat out. I would personally prefer an original solid well designed boat over a modified rebuilt one but either way it is a narrow market for vintage boats re-powered, which may have been the point? I'm going to out to add a structure scan transducer to my boat right now....might as well role up a bunch of brown bills and smoke them but since I don't drink or smoke that's the way I burn money.

PS I'll cast my usual line, happy to go tuna fishing in your commander anytime, sounds like a boat worth doing a couple nights off shore until all the ice has been used up rather than running back in every night! Amazing sounding boat.

Keep posting, I'm going to send that Almar to my friends but I sure hope they wait for Cuddy.

Hey sounds good! If I head out this year I’ll let you know. The biggest problem with tuna fishing is they show up when hunting season starts .
