I've got the 270 leg. I believe I read you've got the 290. You would have a hydraulic lift system were my 270 is the real old school electro mechanical lift system. I had an issue with my leg kicking up in reverse because the pawls weren't locking properly onto this bar thingy that it is supposed to hook onto. And if you go in reverse and it is not locked properly then that is when you get this slamming back down when you shift out of reverse.
I fixed my problem by taking the locking mechanism off the leg and cleaning everything and re installing it. I think it was just salt and crud that was stopping it from working properly.
I did it with the leg remaining on the boat. It was fussy and a pain in the butt.
With a hydraulic lift like yours I'm a little surprised that you would have this problem.
But hey it is a volvo after all!
