Boat decision....

I’m also on the Sunshine Coast. I live in Sechelt and will be splitting my boating between Sechelt inlet and the strait. I’m curious if anyone has any experience with the 18ft Hewescraft sportsman and how well it handles chop or is the sea runner the only choice?. I don’t really intend on going out in crazy seas but would love to be able to get out and fish most days.

Both boats would benefit from suspension seats in the chop. I personally wouldn’t recommend a sportsmen for the straight. My grandfather crossed in a little row boat but he was more of a man than me! Neah Bay lost - sportsmen this year, a real tragedy. I’m partial to the sea runner having owned one. Wider beam and a ton more boat. My old one is probably closer to a sportsman but the new ones are much better boats.

Thank you for the reply! I’m also looking at the kingfisher boats and they seem to be pretty good but I haven’t seen one in person
