Best west coast fishing boat under 80k

No way anyone is finding an almost new Grady White for close to 80k. Hourston went out of business how many years ago?

You can find an almost new Campion EX 21 at the top of your range. https://www.facebook.com/share/18V7yGX2kX/
If I was you, I'd go for an older boat like a 232 that's solid with good power than a newer/crappier boat. The abilities of a 232 vs a 21' Campion are night and day.

It's not what the original Bubba is looking for. For under 100k, most grady whites will be 15-plus years old. I agree a 232 is a way better boat but they will be over 200k cad for a 2019 a 6-year-old boat https://ca.boats.com/boats-for-sale/?make=grady-white&model=gulfstream-232

A couple options are 4 year old Defiance or Jeanneau.

I still think a well kept 20 year old Grady would be a better buy than a new Campion. Would be hard to find though

A 20 year old Grady is barely broken in. As long as its been maintained and not sat in the water most of its life its likely better than most newer boats of less calibre. Many of Grady's models have been produced for 20 plus years. They don't change that much. Tweaks.....I've looked at dozens of boats over the last 2 years in my search for my next larger boat. Good boats come up. You gotta be fast, you gotta spend your life scouring the internet every day, willing to take a risk sometimes and likely travel to some other place, sometimes the US to find them.....

Yeah, in some cases a 20 year old Grady is barely broken in, but....... others were ridden hard and put away wet. Missing canvas, engines that need to be replaced, guided or fished hard.... If you can find a lift or trailer princes, or one well maintained and repowered it will sell quick. Some nice looking 232 down in California right now but I imagine if they come are in good shape, trump coin traders are buying them!

The OP did state that it’s for iinshore fishing. These threads, although always entertaining, often drift into overkilL

What I read was $80K/fishing/outboard/weather protection. What part of these posts exceed that scope? I’m always interested to understand people who decide they’re going to moderate a discussion when it’s not in their job description. Just one mans view. This is a “forum” for discussion and views right.

Way I see it in that length/price point if you want something new it’s gonna be a big compromise in build quality.. just the way it is these days.

If you’re not needing to overnight in comfort with the Mrs have a look at some of the aluminum options.

I was at Bass Pro just before Christmas and they were clearing out some of their house model "Spartan" hulls, Merc power, I think those are made by Thunder Jet?

I have seen those in the showroom but never on the water. Anyone know anything about them? They seem to have competitive pricing.

I did say they are often entertaining, but I noted there’s a common theme. Again, look at the example boats he has given. Makes me wonder why people jump to a Grady 232. I hope I didn’t hurt the feelings of your personal boat. I am moderating this as much as you are.

Agreed. Sounds to me that he’s more interested in a pilot house type boat. Grady’s don’t give you that great of protection from the elements.

Guess I should give a little more specifics on what I am looking for and I know there is such a wide range of boat and opinions. 80k is the ball park, ideally looking for something no more than 5 years old, outboard, will look at fiberglass or aluminum. Something that can be easily trailered, as for weather protection pilot house would be nice but not a deal breaker. Can fish with 3 or 4 people comfortably., stable platform. Mostly used for inshore day trips.
