I was going through the supplemental materials available on the eDNA report from the Somass Watershed & Alberni Inlet I posted earlier and this popped up:
Note the "Atlantic salmon" eDNA results pic in the bottom. That hatchery has inadvertently let Atlantic salmon smolts into the watershed with whatever diseases were prevalent in the hatchery that they picked-up with them. No mention of these realities by either the hatchery or DFO.
Urge decision-makers to honour Canada’s delayed yet promising victory for wild salmon by removing all open-net pen fish farms by 2029, while supporting a well-rounded and just aquaculture transition plan.
Not quite 50 percent. Elmo does not miss a chance to put her spin on things. ...... if things are down it's because of farms if the runs go up even with the same amount of farms it's because some farms closed ....... I wish she would make up her mind
