Aquaculture improving?..The Fish Farm Thread

I'm not sure how staying in your field is good or bad ..... Elmo will always be an ENGO .... who cares...... most of us don't change our stripes.
I wouldn't phrase it as "staying in your field".

Instead I would point-out the accountability that public servants (Federal & Provincial) should be subject to - the focus that they should have being focused on protecting public resources as a priority - and that they should stop lying & protecting any industry. There is a complete failure of fiduciary duty here. Leave the lobbying for paid industry BS artists/PR firms.

For this ONPSF industry - they have been protected from both any serious environmental assessment where pros/cons are admitted & discussed - and debated as to who wins/looses as a society - and they DO NOT use any scientifically-defensible siting criteria to attempt to mitigate wild/cultured stock interactions.

I'm sick and tired of my tax dollars going to another entitled arrogant government gate-keeper who doesn't want to understand he is as public employee working within a public resource for the public - and consistently lies to protect his industry buddies. This especially includes the communications branch of DFO.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, eh?

I have been dealing with DFO & specifically their aquaculture & comms branches for well over 20 years now. By-and-large - I have never met such a secretive, unhelpful, disrespectful, dishonest bunch of public employees in my life. They are a National disgrace on both Coasts and should be disbanded.

And I can name specific names & have hundreds of pages of ATIPs to back up my claims (just a little posted on this thread earlier) - as well as thousands of peer-reviewed articles.

Informed & experienced would be my assessment of my assessment of their lack of fiduciary duty, unprofessionalism, dishonesty & disrespect.

Like raincoast SRKW statement lol you can’t make this up

“Unlike stakeholder forums that weigh recovery measures within the context of economic interests and policy constraints, this workshop was designed to prioritize science- and evidence-based solutions.”

Lol

And Raincoast also deserves to be challenged on their assertions, too. But they are just another myopic ENGO with their hand out for money for causes they create & promote.

But the difference here is that our own Federal & provincial Regulators have a much higher bar wrt accountability, legal requirements, liability, & fiduciary responsibility. They are part of our government, and are paid by us taxpayers to responsibly manage our natural resources - as a priority.

They are not a multinational corporation or an ENGO.

See the difference? I know you do - but are just trying to deflect the criticism because it leads to spotlighting the all-to-apparent collusion & corruption within DFO.

That was first hand experience working for the provincial agriculture ministry for several years. The provincial aquaculture and fish health depts IMO were secretive, dishonest and withheld and manipulated info.

The prevailing attitude was that those members of the public that were that were questioning fish farms were the ‘enemy’. Therefore they did not have to be respected and did not need to be held accountable by them.

There was such a pro fish farm bias it was truly disturbing, despite legitimate concerns and research pointing out problems with net pen fish farms. This behaviour was supported from the very top.

Similar complaints have been made against DFO in this matter as the media has shown over the years. Truly disgusting!! 😡 I say move these fish farms onto land where their negative impacts can be better managed!!

I was referring to AA, not the ENGO’s. You obviously missed that! The ENGO’s are out to lunch on this and many other issues.
