SVIAC knows that there is lots of interest in the status of the Sooke Chinook Enhancement Initiative, and where the funds from the upcoming (and past) derby will go. Coles notes version is as follows:

SVIAC finally got a meeting with DFO on August 12 to discuss the discontinuance of this year’s run of our highly successful project in the Sooke Basin. Unfortunately, the outcome was not what we had hoped for. But we aren’t giving up! Our work to support chinook and the Southern Resident Killer Whale recovery is too important. We will engage the SVI community in the fall to consider next steps.

Know as well that SVIAC has several other plans in the hopper for enhancement on the Sooke River. SVIAC is also prepared to participate in a new Sooke Watershed Management Round Table Initiative, led by the T’sou-ke First Nation.

SVIAC is also open to hear ideas from groups and individuals as to how we can support other efforts across SVI, reach out with yours!

Read more about those plans HERE, and we thank everyone for your continued support.

$20,000 First Place Prize! $45K in total prizes to the top 10 fish! Get your tickets now! Did we mention First Place comes with a sweet trophy? New this year, it's coming together. Bragging rights and then some!

You mean boat/trailer parking for registration night? There is decent parking back towards veterans memorial, on Station, near Action Truck Accessories.

Thanks for sharing - think I saw the derby result in PA was a 30lber!

This is it, this weekend, it's the 2025 Alpine Juan de Fuca Fishing Tournament! Saturday night is registration night at LANGFORD LEGION, and then it's game on Sunday, 7 Sept 2025.

At registration night, the raffle items donated are amazing! Be sure to pick up a handful of raffle tix when at Registration Night! Amazing thanks to our many sponsors for those and supporting the event overall! So many to thank, will share them all here soon! Find them all here on the derby page too!

And of course, don't forget the big prize pool for the top 10 fish!

On Tournament day, check out the live leaderboard on Facebook! That'll help a little bit in your decision making to find out if your 12lber will make it onto the board! And remember to get to Pedder Bay for check-in time (3pm!) if you have that Top 10 fish. Gotta be in line at 3 or your out!
