I’m not sure how many people here follow the NFL, but they imposed a rule where if 85% of your team/coaches/staff are not vaccinated, and you get covid cases, the game is cancelled and forfeited. No money for either team. Minnesota Vikings fired a coach today because he wouldn’t get vaccinated. I’m sure there’s a lawsuit coming because of that firing but it’s interesting to see someone get fired for not being vaccinated. I wonder what kind of precedences will be set by firing a coach because he won’t get vaccinated.

"Free rider problem" It's not a group per say it's an economic term that describes a free market condition. Here is another economic term for you "invisible hand of the market" describes what you did in your own self-interest by getting your shots.

You acted exactly what the free market needed thus proving my point.

I always say I'm really in favour of open discussion and that I'm not at all part of a "side" in this thing and just go through life on a case-by-case basis trying to maximize my own situation, so in that spirit here's a podcast that I think is really worth hearing as a sort of companion or corollary to the Bret Weinstein/Robert Malone/Steve Kirsch? (I forget who the really wound up guy was) podcast.

I think they're both worth hearing and thinking over.


Some people might be surprised to hear it but I am much more in agreement with the majority of the content in this interview than in Bret Weinstein's, even though I'm not someone who was interested in lining up to be the first person vaccinated.

Sam Harris is typical Sam Harris...kind of overwrought. Eric Topol though is a pretty serious voice on the subject and I think is pretty bang on with his commentary here. I think it's interesting that he sees some possibility of efficacy from ivermectin even though he can't explain the mechanism, but I also think his criticism of the unbridled enthusiasm for it by some people is pretty spot on.

Anyway if you want to hear a pretty calm discussion that makes a good counter argument to Bret Weinstein's claims, but also doesn't hesitate to criticize the CDC, WHO etc, this is a good listen.

In other words. 22% of the positive covid cases for a 1 month period had vaccinations.
 
I read this as 19% of the total population have not had a shot. These people are responsible for 78% of the new cases.

30% of the population have had 1 shot only, and are responsible for 18% of the new cases

50% of the population have had both doses, and are responsible for 4% of new cases.

Overwhelming evidence that the shots are working and we would probably beat this virus if everyone took the shot.

The ability to read the stats and interpret them the way that you do, requires certain level of cognitive senses that unfortunately few people lack.

So 80% of the population has had at least one shot and is responsible for 22% of the positive cases.

See what I did there? The same thing I said before and what you said in a different way. The same ******** people pull everyday with stats to say what they want.

Anyway my point being you can still get covid with the shot. (And yes at a drastically lower rate)

And having gotten Covid after having been fully vaccinated, you are far less likely to be hospitalized and/or die. No one has ever said the vaccination guaranteed immunity.
 
One shot is not fully vaccinated. It’s a two dose program.
Clearly maximum effectiveness is reached with two shots and it’s working.
zero denying it. I’ve had two and I haven’t even grown a tail or had a leg fall off.

I think we are past the point of trying to succefully convince the other side to change their opinions.
I’m happily fully vaccinated, and I’m out of this thread.
 
Without looking at the numbers too deeply and just going on what a couple of ICU doctors I know are seeing, I'd assume that something like 100% of severe cases are non-vaccinated.

There's various nuances about the vaccine that you might or might not be concerned about but I don't think there's any question that it prevents serious cases.

In fact I think there's probably an argument that getting a mild case of a variant after having been vaccinated would grant you a really broad immunity and might be the best case scenario.
 
If your on the fence here is a place that will give you that first shot.
You know what's coming this fall as the general public aren't willing to go through another lock down when it's the unvaccinated that are the issue.
