Advice on Where to Anchor for Halibut in Port Renfrew

Hey everyone,

I’m planning my first halibut trip to Port Renfrew and could use some advice. It will be my first time fishing out of Renfrew.

I’m hoping to anchor rather than drift, and I’ve heard there can be decent halibut fishing around Swiftsure Bank. I know there’s a closure area on the Bank itself, so I’m looking for general advice on where around Swiftsure (outside the closed zone) you can anchor and have a shot at halibut.

Not looking for anyone’s honey hole locations — just hoping for a bit of direction so I’m not heading out totally blind. If anyone’s willing to share general coordinates or areas to start from, that would be super helpful. Also open to any tips on tides, bait, or gear setups that tend to work well out there.

Thanks in advance, tight lines!

Thanks in advance, tight lines!, look at your charts, anywhere on the north east side of the closure is where most anchor, from the north east closure point, all the way north , there is literally places to anchor everywhere, Hali has been good, most are drifting the ranch side this time of year, but the north east side always have fish if you put in the time

It’s that simple 👍👍, not much effort being put in on Hali right now because of out lovely regs, I got my Halie’s earlier this year so pretty done for this season, might bomb out on a nice day but I doubt it
Used to be like NY city out there and you would know your in the zone. Sad to hear it’s not getting much effort but that’s what they want. So sad. Hard to justify the run for a ping pong paddle.
