3D printed plugs

Fired up my 3D printer with some different glow filament and started printing some tomic/J plug style plugs ! Working on different sizes (4"-8"), maybe some tubbys. These are just blanks and will get some airbrushing in our favourite patterns.

Tight lines !
Is that the SeaMo plug from cults/thingiverse?

print it out of ABS and do a decent infill for strength at depth. I would also say clear coat it when done just to help seal it overall
The model the OP printed is a 2 piece and meant to be glued together, with 100% infill since I modeled the thickness into it. I posted the model on Thingiverse a few years ago, but it was only this past weekend I tried an FDM printed version since I designed it for resin printers originally. Turns out I had no idea PLA itself is porous, ha. So yea, I ordered some KBS diamond for waterproofing.

you guys are speaking some sort of weird language but anyways i’m fairly certain tomic plugs are two piece glued as well. i had some seaweed on my favorite tomic UV biirt plug so i slapped it against the water and broke along that tiny seam that runs around its entirety. i tried gluing it out of despair but to no avail.
that thing killed so many springs for me i take it out of a special box once per year and have a commemorative dram and a cry over it

1:34 … I slowed the print down to get better quality. It took me 6 attempts to get the supports correct to print it standing but I finally got it. I am not happy with the nose so I am going to try it lying down tonight and see how it comes out.

How much infill are you using?
Hi there, late to the party here. Ive been successfully printing these vertically with the nose down but struggling to stop a 7 inch one from falling over. Did you ever have any luck with printing the big ones? When I print horizontally, the supports leave a lot of clean. up on the plug.

Have you tried it yet? I paint lures and dip them twice in kbs to finish them and I’m curious to see how you make out if you’re dipping something porous. I get a lot of air bubbles even with the fine sanding marks between dips. When i have a perfectly smooth surface to start with though the finish is outstanding.

Clint are you using cedar plug blanks? Or 3d printed? Those look deadly either way

I'm also curious about the 3D printed ones, and how well they can hold they eyelets for the hook and line? Strong enough? Strength would be my concern with a 2 piece approach. Printing vertically would be ideal but need a brim and support base. Also, instead of PLA use PETG? PLA is going to break down pretty fast.

Clint: those are beautiful.
