I disagree , I spend a good amount of time every year fishing YFT in diff parts of Mexico. It’s all seasonal and method dependant . Lots of the year those fish just aren’t available in Cabo , and when they are , big yellowfin can be very wary . Guys out of Cabo like sharluko peralta ( mas crudo ) and some other private outfits break that mark and bigger regularly . Need to fish them on the kite on the yummie flyer or bigger live baits like chihwili or big skippies. Lots of charters will fish cedars in the porpoise schools, or live sardina on the high spots which generally work better on smaller to mid grade . With gordo banks it’s better for them to go out to the iman with a well of sardines and catch 6 30 - 50 lb fish , than to go soak big baits at the gordo for one single bite on a bigger model .
