Wahooligan colour

Those LR guys sure do love that colour on the DTX's when fishing for skinnies.

27 for us out of winter harbour today! Had 1 at 11am then found some really amazing schools from 11-230pm, last year type schools. Lost more than we normally would as well. With a normal loss ratio should have had 32-35. 6pack, 7 pack and many triples and a few quads. Right on Haida ridge.

Just picked up some yo-zuri high-speed vibes. They are a similar type of lure. Will report on how they produce vs zukes.

Has anyone fished out of WH recently? We are out mon Tuesday appreciate any reports if possible. I'll let you guys know if we find any. Would be nice to get them a little closer with the weather window being tight so any intel appreciated.
Recent shot looked like the water pushed in a little further.

If you can find them these run really well:

The Halco Max's run pretty true too and should be easy to find

Today is the last day of the Bamfield Tuna Shoot Out.

It's been very quiet on this website thru the whole thing.

I hope that's not due to the lack of fish.

Does anyone have a picture of the leader board?

Is there any new reports of how the fishing has been?

Thanks,

Mike

Buddy is fishing it, a lot of fuel burning going on!
They had some decent days, but overall slower than usual and way far out .
Unfortunately like that all over the island this season.

warm water has pushed in closer, but there don't seem to be high concentrations of schools. the fleet went out Thursday morning with only one boat finding 30 fish. he called the fleet in and boats where still only hitting the odd one. most left with between 5-10 fish on average. nothing like the 5 days previous trip out that had most boats getting 30 plus, and right up to the top boat finding 54 that day.
the wind up was a bit solemn as last year on the same night we lost a true friend to everyone. Justin Demoskoff now has a dedicated memory with our group and this derby. Every year he will remembered as his last tuna fishing rod and reel was donated by his partner Kelly. It will be presented to the most helpful Captain as voted by the other Captains in the derby.

Boat is cleaned up and ready for haul out. Another amazing season filled with ups and downs with a bit wild Bamfield thrown in the mix.
Time for Mexico in a few months. Good luck to everyone on the tack, be safe. Be solid.

i will see if i can find a pic of the leader board.
thanks to the sponsors, Mills Landing, Shayla for your organizing skills, Breakers for the the kicker prize!, and all the rest of you Captains and crew for making tuna fishing such a blast.
