2025 Tuna Adventures

should be rolling into winter harbour late sunday evening. Wind looks great monday - tuesday monring, then blowing up for what looks like the rest of our trip.... trying to talk the crew into a overnighter out on the grounds monday night. Anyone in winter possibly interested in buddy boating?

Plan for the worst but hopefully you plug the boat and come in early with no need to spend the night. Bring some chum though if you do, might attract some sharks or baitfish and maybe wake up to a school of long fins sitting under you.

Will be out Saturday and Monday.

Was anyone on here planning in going? I briefly thought about it, but spending a week in Nootka is a step up in commitment from the old Race for the Blue. The restaurants, grocery stores, fish processors, accomodation options and other services made Tofino a much easier home base. Maybe next year...
Bamfield tuna shootout is still on!!
It's never missed a beat in over 10 years!

We had six boats going. Will need to wait until next year now. I’m sure they really scratched their heads before making the major announcement- I think this will be a great spot to run out of and moor. We are gonna giver heck Sunday n Monday

Will be running out of Tahsis Sunday/Monday also, not sure where we’ll start. Temp/clora shots are the ***** with the fog.

Hey for all you guys using Satfish...
For the water color/chlorophyll map layer are you guys selecting "high def sst", "1 day composite Chl", or "3 day composite Chl" ? I was used to Terrafin and I think it was just the SST choice on there..

I get quite different results going between those selections. Can anybody explain what the difference is between those three Chlorophyll map selections and what you think is best to go by?

@Esperanza-time when I look at Bouy Weather offshore forecast tomorrow (Saturday) morning is 10 knot winds and afternoon it calms down, Sunday it's 8-9 knots morning and afternoon. Monday it's 8-9 knots in the morning and calms to 2 knots in the afternoon.

I'm thinking of going Monday out of Esperanza if we can get a couple buddy boats going that would be good. Looks like it'll be fishy around 45- miles out.
Anyone interested?

Hi def if no cloud or fog day it's the most accurate chart to use.
1 day is the composite data from entire day (sat image taking at different time of the day, usually twice). Not as accurate as hi def but still works well.
3 day is composite image of all imagery taken with the last 72hrs. If during that time ,no heavy rain ,no strong wind, no strong current then the information can still be reliable to some degrees. However, if any of the mentioned weather, current condition is present then that image is just your best guess reference. As temp break and chlorophyll break can actually be way off depending on the severity of the elements.
