Was out for the am in a buddies boat. We caught our limit, mostly down deep, bouncing the bottom. All fish caught in small skinny spoons (like AP Sandlance). Bite was off and on, bait marked in bunches as well. Biggest for us was 8lbs, and had 2 just shy of that too.

Was out on Mar. 22, fished Whirl Day and Church Rock for 4 hours, had several undersized and my buddy got a 7lb marked spring on a white hootchie down at 125 ft on the rigger. Water condition was better then out west with some protection from the wind and swell. Fishing was slow, had 4 other boats in the area. Still great to be on the water. Basically was a sea trail for my new 150 Mercury Seapro - engine performed great, great acceleration and hole shot with my 4 blade prop.

Not a report but quick Q that I’d rather start with here vs the open forum. I see there are some open areas (on the DFO realtime shellfish biotoxin map) for little neck and Manila clams in Becher and outside of wiffin spit, are these areas worth a try?
Back story is wife had a great time clamming with me last year up near nanoos, she’ll be out in Langford with the kids for Easter while I’m doing bathroom Reno’s at home. Tides look favourable so I thought I’d see if I could find her a spot to go rake some sand with the kids. Thanks for any intel, shoot a PM if you prefer.

Was pretty good in the bay today, had 9 fish to the boat but 7 were just a tad undersize. One 10-12 lb was wild of course so just came home with one keeper. Skinny G and another green stainless lure (I can't remember the name of) worked well at about 100'. Weather pretty good considering the storm last night!

Got out in Becher in my kayak for one final kick at the last spot on the license. TONS of bait but no marks until I went a little shallower. Found myself in the middle of a school of larger herring when my jig stopped cold. I set the hook. WHAM!! I could tell immediately I had a heavy fish on the other end. Cue the adrenaline!
As it was running back to the bottom for the 5th time, I convinced myself that it was a wild. When it popped up and I didn't see an adipose, I couldn't believe it. If you were in the bay this morning and heard maniacal cackling at about 11am, that was 100% me. What a way to end the season!
I didn't have a scale (ya, I need to rectify that), but it measured 83x53cm which translates to 18-19 lbs. What a chonk.

Fished in front of Sooke harbor Friday from 8-1, beautiful day on the water. Kept 4, lost a couple of good ones and released 8 undersized. Hoochie out fished spoons. Lots of nice keeper Dungies in our traps.
ALL the fish we caught were hatchery, DFO has no idea what they're doing with this silly closure.

Especially when the whales have been down at montery bay of california...most dumbest thing ever BUT you can thank the USA for all of this as they ramped up chinook production 4 years ago , but im afraid thats gonna be a mute point as they had to clip 100% and I read that they wont be clipping as much anymore . And now off oregon im thnking no regulations down there. And yes fishing other day fish seemed to be in depper water AP herring and irish cream
Out of Pedder this morning. Spent most of our time at Whirl Bay including the start of the flood. There we released one 10'ish unclipped, bleeder 
and lost two more decent fish. The rest were all small. Moved in to the Navy can and got one keeper amongst the pack and lost another playing roulette with the reefs on the west side of the bay. Seemed most boats got a fish or two but not tons.

Finally able to make it out yesterday. I heard there were some nice fish around and wasn't disappointed. Fished Otter Point and played 12 springs total, mostly 4-8 lbs. The highlights being a 78 cm hatchery and a beautiful 20 lb+ wild released beside the boat after an epic fight! All on skinny Gs 75-110’

Well this is gonna be a kinda of lil rant here it is now almost 3:30 on the 31 and we were promised a hatchery fish opening for april 1st (sfab meeting) what a joke they already said and know but no notice.
NOW if what I saw attended a SFAB meeting maybe we might get somewhere . I left sooke today (11 am) to run to pedder for the halibut season there was about 25 boats off bluffs,otter,posession. then id say 12 at trap to beechy to fraser island, come around the horn at whirl 14 boats hit pedder another 12 and could see some down at albert head
So id say a good honest 60 plus boats out fishing... DO YOU think salmon fishing is important to the south island??? and there definaltly was some fish at cleaning station...
