2025 Sidney Reports

Gave it the ol college try at 05:00 this morning with my pops. Went around arbutus rock in hopes of a hatch.
Lines down and it was double header after double header of small 2-3 lbs. probably 20+ fish reeled in.
Biting everything.
Never figured out how to catch a bigger one but it was fun!
hot lures below, plus a white hoochie

If you're into nothing but smalls, sometimes it's best to move.

Sometimes a longer leader can help
After about 8 little guys I tried coming up off the bottom, getting close to the rock and I tied a bigger spoon with a longer leader and still got little guy after little guy.

Hopefully the guide next week in renfrew can find me a fish that can peel line.

Yeah sounds like they weren’t around.

I’m pretty sure you’re going to have a wicked trip and can’t wait to read the report!

Is there any to know if the chinook retention regs will be the same as last year as of August 1st? We're planning to head out from Tulista on Friday for a few days, so will be visiting the Spit, Moresby, Hambley ...

I think they officially announce/ release the new rules the night before ?? ( not sure though)
But I can’t see there being any reason that they’d be different than last year.
But it does make it crappy for planning purposes if the future regs aren’t known well in advance of a planned trip.

Already announced. FN 0593 (posted June 30) and there’s a map on the DFO page right under “salmon” above where they show the current limits, which shows August will be 1 per day max 80

But Remember in Sidney Minimum Size is 62cm - Max 80 cm. You have an 18cm window.

Fished Coal yesterday morning from 6 am - 9am. Lots of bait and lots of fish showing on the sounder but nothing of any size chose to hit. 4 unders on spoons and hootchies. Beauty morning and current was reasonable.
Any reports of Pinks showing up? Have some little guys that I want to take out and would like them to see some rod action. I had posted a few weeks ago about Coho off of Moresby. Are they still around?
