2025 Secret Cove, Pender Harbour and Texada Reports

Question for the group - we had a bit of a debate on the boat. Would you call this a clipped adipose fin? The healed-over 90 degree notch led us to believe it was indeed a legal fish, but debated whether keeping it was risky or not. Curious what others think. Also attaching the pic of what swayed us to keep it.

Fishing report: Went out this weekend and fished a little all over. Epsom had quite a few fish Friday night, but no keepers. Some wild Coho and quite a few nice spring. East/South East Sangster fished well on Saturday with lots of action, but only one keeper... managed to bounce around a little and find some hatchery coho elsewhere. Didn't make it down to Pirate, but also curious of some of the hatchery hoes have moved that far south.

Pic of the hot lure of the weekend also attached.

Solid morning out at epsom,no action for the first hour then it was on. 5 wild and 2 hatch ho’s, all on spoons. Tons of bait out there.
Trolling at 70-90’

Right on. Were you fishing the ebb? Did you stay for the low slack?

Hope to be out next few days, see you there if tacking!

As we were heading over to Sangster yesterday morning, we saw some bait jumping off the south end of Lasqueti. Decided to drop the lines in a new (to us) spot. We found a nice school of hatchery ho's, and for the first time this year we avoided the springs. It was also nice to see a higher ratio of hatchery to wild. Got our limit in about an hour on spoons from 40-70 ft. deep.

We fished Epsom today, 2 unclipped coho and a small spring 8 or 9 pounds. Missed quite a few hits in the chop. A fair bit of weed and jellyfish slime in the choppy conditions. I may head out again later if it stops raining. The coho were about 5 pounds and were scrappers. My first time fishing there so kind of an exploratory. We had the spoons at 43 on the riggers.

We fished Epsom this morning from 10:30 to 1:30 and we were busy - released 14 unclipped coho, kept 4 clipped coho and released 4 chinook from about 8 pounds to 14 pounds. Flash flys worked the best for us at depths from 40 to 70. I replaced the hooks on the flash flys and they were sticky sharp - sharp enough to go right thru one of my fingernails when I was cutting corners releasing an unclipped coho by grabbing the hook with my fingers rather than the gaff or pliers. We fished Pirate Rock and Epsom later this aft and we released 3 unclipped coho and 2 smallish chinook.
