2025 Campbell River Reports

Anywhere north of the Narrows is stuffed with Sockeye and Pinks. Triple and Quad headers at times tonight. Anywhere north of the Narrows is also full of Sporties, Gillnetters, etc.

Went up early this morning, saw sockeye jumping constantly from the time we left disco harbour until we got just south of plumper. Fished the wall there during the early am slack and then fished plumper. Lots of sockeye, lots of pinks. Lost a pile on the way up to the boat so I’ll be upping my hook size from 1/0 to 3/0 or more for the next outing. On the way back saw sockeye jumping in the middle of the narrows. Just insane amount of fish and as many boats to boot hahaha, does everyone else lose a ton on the way up as well? Any tricks to keep these little head smashing savages hooked? Awesome trip regardless!

Side note: seeing a ton of people out by the lighthouse in small groups, are people hitting sockeye close to town possibly in the back eddy by cape mudge during the ebb?

Point your rod straight at the fish reel it right toward you/lift or swing it into the boat there's little to no 'sport' you don't let them fight at all just lift & swing.

(Did this by accident one year on a good sized Spring and Man did we feel Stupid because they were Closed-managed to get it back in the water in record time though)
