From the other thread on the cost of processing:
~$4.00 - $5.00/lb (includes vacuum bags) for loins.

$3.30 - $4.25 /can for canned tuna and $6.00 - $6.50 / lb for smoked tuna at St Jeans.

Our processing bill for 1,500 lbs (100 fish) a couple years ago was more than the fuel bill from four days chasing tuna.

Canned albacore is amazing and far better than anything you can buy at the store. Even better is smoked and then canned, everyone we gave some to asked for more. Will definitely be doing more that way going forward.

Agreed on the canned Albacore. St Jeans did a few Albacore I dropped off from trips to Westport in 2016-17 and the hot smoked canned was incredible especially in a simple pasta with butter, white wine, garlic, shallots, basil, spinach and cherry tomatoes with a splash of cream.

They also do amazing cold smoked lox.

Looking forward to try smoked canned this year with some of the 30ish loins in my freezer

Made it out of tofino sat and sun for some 30 mile runs out to clayoquot canyon . weather wise - sat was pretty good, Sunday wasn't... never had taken water over the bow before Sunday. lol. got 37 in two days. Big thanks to our amazing host!

Great day out of Ukee yesterday with a bit of a hunt for warmer water. We ended up fishing along about a 3300' depth contour between Father Charles and Clayoquot, particularly in the unexploded ordinance area slightly SW of Clayoquot (we put lines in near 48°43 126°37). It was foggy so we only saw other boats at random but looked to be about 6-8 others out there and a few commercial boats on the radio. We were roughly 47nm back to Ukee at the end of the day with 10 fish and about 4.5 hours with lines in the water, two double headers and 6 singles. We never found an active school and that seemed to be what the commercial boats were relaying as well. Water conditions were great with little to no wind all day and La Perouse showing about 0.8m @ 9s and we were able to rip back in at 30kts. That was our first trip out, just my wife and I, and everything went as well as it could have! Thanks all for sharing so much great info on here over the years.

Good job, sounds like you were beside us.

We will be monitoring 12, will be out on the water by noon on the 10th. Whaler conquest, let’s hope for a good weather day on the 11th.
Weather looks better for the start of your trip ! Sunday - Tuesday looks like it’s averaging 15 kts , 1.5 meter well at 8 seconds . Not ideal but doable , looks like the closest nice break / good chloro is about 25nm from winter , not bad .

Put 30 plus in the boat this morning 8 - 11 . Water spiked from 59 F to 63 f and we put the spread in . Very very nice grade, no rats , only about 20 miles from kains. Could have kept going but couldn’t keep up so stopped for lunch and drifted for blue sharks . Got a few more blind jigging shimano flatfalls down around 300’ , a few pomfret aswell! Conditions were pretty solid .
