Looks like a few boats out at hole in the wall today ducking out the chop. Wish one of them was me but I’m waiting for the ferry

Fishing West Bowen yesterday dead slow no bait at all or fish marks, this big slab came in and made our whole year, buddy caught it i netted it..
put it on the scale and it read 25lbs so i'm gauging lower as the digital is more accurate, length was 36" nonetheless it's a big fish, was very fat and chunky.. fillets were so thick.. marble my favourite heading into the brine today... EDIT Hit the fish at Tunstall

First time out since October due to boat issues and basically just life getting in the way of living… tried Hutt Island/north side of Bowen in the am, couple undersized. Headed to Dorman point around noon, boxed a spunky 7-8lb in the first 10min then nothing til calling it around 2:30. Fished the 200-250 depth all day riggers between 180-220, wasn’t marking much anywhere. Decent prawn haul on the way out.
A bit windy but what a nice cruise from Rocky Point launch, all the way around Bowen and back home. Constant reminder of how awesome of an area we have here. Tight lines boys, get ‘em before April fools, when the fools shut us down

I think I found the fish that Reeltime pulled in…two reel screaming runs resulting in two bruised knuckle joints and a nasty bruise on the top of my thumb… and then it was gone. It was worth it.

Anyone fished Thrasher/Grande/Entrance lately? Going to scoot over to Gabriola next weekend for lads trip.
I’ll be there for Easter weekend fishing that area, hopefully I find more than chocolate. Harbour chandlers instagram posted saying entrance has been hot. Check their report on their website too.

One in the box. One out cold. Got lucky and dropped into one just off the bell before I could get a second rod down. Skinny g at bottom at 200’. Lots of boats out here today.

Hipp
I fished Thrasher and Entrance last Tues. I was South of Entrance and got “sea-weeded” repeatedly, So headed towards Thrasher. One underside on the South side of the Silva bay point … nothing at thrasher. I didn’t see any bait at Thrasher. We also fished the deep corridor in front of the Point to no avail.

Fish Tunstall today. Conditions were perfect. Skipped work. I picked up a 65cm spring. Off the bottom on a West coast spoon little phat-e no bananas. With a chartreuse flasher. Not much else, an under sized. Saw killer whales. Great day. 180 prawns. Hoping I'll get to defense on the weekend.

Gower Point today. One under and one nice 65 boxed. I’m continue to seek retribution from a bigger fish for the bruised knuckles last week. Westcoast lure with chartreuse flasher at 190

Fished the bell yesterday, and the mile markers. Picked up a marble keeper within 15 minutes, then nothing for the rest of the day. Marked some decent bait, but not the huge schools we saw last year this time. 150 fow, 100 on the rigger, black glow and 3" herring aid. Beauty afternoon. We found an alge covered unmarked rec. crab trap, so we pulled it. Couple of dead crab in it, rot cord and elastics were gone. we decided to salvage it and pick it up at the end of the day so put some bait in it and sent it back down with our other traps. Nice haul.
