Sunday 8-10 near zero 2 large rock cod, 1 keeper lingcod and 2 massive skates. 10-2 backside of Sidney Island only 1 keeper lingcod. Perfect weather.

It’s a cousin to dogfish so if you eat them then you’re good to go

Yeah, we released them because we weren't sure how to process them. We'll study up and have a taste next time.

Well as predicted. Sooke and Oak Bay were nasty all day with wind. So I headed for the calm waters of Sidney. Saw a sea lion eating a nice sized spring so he was fed and hopeful this was good sign of things to come. Trolled for about 50 minutes nothing. I had bait one side and skinny g other side. Got a small hit on bait side, Hit and gone. re-baited, then all hell broke lose for 3 hours. #1 Day in my boat for springs, #1 day for Avg size of springs and might be number #1 day ever, top 3 for sure. and #1 Opening day since opening day was a thing. Flat calm, hotter than hell and no fog. 17 for 22 all springs. 1 was 7lbs under slot in Sidney as needs to be between 62cm-80cm the rest between 10-20lbs, kept 14lb hatchery, fatty. Had 3x double headers. Lost 2 at boat, lost 2, 15 ft back, Of the 22 springs 6 were wild and 16 Hatchery. All were within slot except the big one and small one.

Had a great day On the water this morning. On the water at 05:45, 06:00 two rods in the water at the spit, 06:10 bang first fish on and in the boat. Did a few more circles at the spit ended up with a double header, it was going good until the fish wanted to dance with each other and they crossed the lines multiple time…. What a mess, ended up pulling a second to the boat same size as my first with a bit bigger belly. Back to the boat ramp for 09:00. Can’t wait to do it again…

I went out with @Soup Knot Sea in my double eagle 17 twin from 6 to 11:00
Did east Moresby along with only about 7-8 boats. Only few hits, one didn’t stick and two were unders. didn’t see many nets out, apparently we were at the wrong spot
A few prawns and crab to finish up. The Stizzla curse had him lose a cannonball for no apparent reason.
Still an amazing day and I look forward to the next adventure!

Started out down by the red can to get oriented and line up for a long pass by the spit. Had one hit pretty early that didn't do much and a tiny lingcod that followed. Lingcod broke off the hook of the GSB (didn't realize that until the next gear check 20 minutes later!) and then a swivel broke on a flasher. Not my day.
Oh, yeah, then we hooked into this 79cm beauty (measure twice, bonk once!). North of the spit, 70ft deep, right on the bottom. About 7PM.
Winning combo: Left Coast Lures' The Hammer spoon and this flasher which I forget its name.
Anyway: 1 for 1 baby! Let's Gooooo

What a morning pre work fishing with @carpeweekend!
Left the dock just before 6 and trolled coal. 4 hits, 2 landed. Missed a nice one.
8 and 12 lbs on @WestCFishingTackle jolly rancher and derby winner. 55-77’ in 80-100
