The Salish Sea Salmon Challenge Fishing Derby is a one-day fun salmon fishing derby hosted by South Vancouver Island Anglers Coalition (SVIAC). This event is a very important fundraiser for SVIAC's Sooke Chinook sea pen enhancement project. (3,500,000 health Chinook reared and released so far and we need your help to make this keep on going in the future!)This derby will be held on Saturday September 3rd, 2022 with fishing times between 6:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The derby headquarters and sole weigh scale will be located at Cheanuh Marina. The two main derby prizes are cash and will grow based on the number of tickets sold (expected to be between $2,000 and $2,500 each). One cash prize to the largest salmon weighed in and one cash prize as a random draw picked from the list of ticket holders. There will also be additional draw prizes for quality merchandise which any derby ticket holder is eligible to win regardless if they fish or weigh in a fish.
