Hey all, going out on the weekend does anyone have and tips or advice on how to actually catch fish on the lake. It has been more than a year since I have caught one.

read into the 2021 thread but usually up top bucktails and plugs 300' back 1oz of weight 2-3mph depending, if on the rigger usually 65' and higher but lots of fish I've heard still marking deep. Dark colors on dark days and bright colors on bright days.

Apex's up top if you dont have bucktails and dont forget the procure!

Yeah. She was blustery today. I know of a couple boats that went out and ended up coming in. Tomorrow if the wind doesn’t blow like crazy.

3 for 5 on Saturday. 4 for 8 on Sunday. Most fish coming on bucktails. Couple on plugs down deep. Biggest was a 21” fatty. Lost a big one on Saturday on a bucktail.
Do you mind if I ask what general area of the lake you fish. We tried to go out Sunday at Summerland and it was blowing and whitecaps

peachland, squally pt, antler beach and around bertram creek are the popular spots if heading out from westbank yacht club

That’s the thing. Both days were completely different areas. The trick is finding the fish and where they like to hold and that usually changes from day to day. I will say that I do launch from gelletly and fish as far north as traders cove and as far south as Greta ranch. As you can see in the pics, 2 totally different areas.

Thanks, I wasn't so much looking for your fishing spots as wondering what the water conditions were because it was ****** at Summerland

Saturday was great on the water. Slight wind all day but overall decent. Sunday was horse $hit. Wife puked 5 times before it calmed down. That wind from the south/south west was brutal Sunday morning. Wind dropped as the day went on

That's the thing Ed, with okanagan being a large open lake for the most part the ley of the land doesnt play out too well to hide from those high winds and waves. Waiting it out sometimes is all you can do unless you have a larger boat like @Fisher_dude that can handle the swell or have auto pilot and a warm cabin to hide in lol

Well first outing actually on the lake today. Beautiful weather start to the day about 7:30 flat calm and the sun was threatening to be out when it comes over the hill. Before that could happen the wind changed direction ,whitecaps and ccccolddd. Just about called it at 11 but the wind died and sun came out then at 12:00 this little buddy decide it want to bite the new Betty White plugIMG_20220210_122851.jpg

Haven’t been posting much. Fishing has been alright. Truck was busted so I couldn’t tow the boat but it’s all fixed now. I know of a few fish been taken over 10lbs. Biggest that I know of is 15.6lbs. Took some pics of a buddies 14.4lber but I can’t post pics. Should only get better. Most fish coming on bucktails with the odd one on plugs.
